“Occupy the Womb”

Susan B. Anthony List's staff carved a pumpkin for Halloween with the beautiful image of an unborn child in the womb and the phrase “Occupy the Womb.” It was a play on the recent political scene, but it served as a reminder: the one thing that every one of us has in common is the time we spent in the womb of our mother.

As you know, today a mother’s womb is one of the most dangerous places in the world.

Each day in our country, four thousand unborn children have their lives violently ended in the womb. As if the loss of such innocent life wasn’t enough, the injustice doesn’t stop there. Mothers are wounded, and relationships are destroyed.

The Traveling Abortionist

Susan B. Anthony List: Who wants to arrive to their doctor’s office with four signs on the outside door that say; No children allowed, No cell phones or electronic devices, No large bags allowed, or Smile, you’re on camera! Welcome to the office of Dr. LeRoy Carhart - warm, comforting and welcoming to a nervous mother? I think not. Dr. Carhart has been ending human lives straight for the past 23 years and is infamous in the abortion industry. He is an abortion machine. He is one of the few abortionists left who will perform late term abortions and many will travel to him from far states and countries to terminate their pregnancy. His life is abortion, he travels across the United States during each week killing children in Nebraska and Maryland, and soon he will be adding Iowa to his stops.

Carhart and his wife Mary Lou step out of their car on Executive Park Circle, Germantown, MD, nearly every Sunday or Monday (including most holidays) to terminate the lives of innocent children. Carhart enters through the side door, into an office where the windows are completely covered and blinds are shut at all times. Sure sounds like a welcoming office, full of “kindness, courtesy, justice, love and respect” as stated on their website.

Outside of the clinic is a completely different scene filled with hope and love. There are many vigilant prayer warriors and counselors who are energetically and lovingly trying to save the lives of the countless children and spare women from the pain of abortion. Every Monday, when abortions are performed, many faithful go and pray on the streets outside the clinic with signs. Many children, young adults, middle aged and older people are there to fight for the rights of the unborn through silent and prayerful protest. The gentle pro-life counselors try to convince the women and those who accompany them going in to Carhart’s office, to reconsider their options and to at least consider going to a doctor with a more reputable reputation. Across the street from the abortion clinic, Germantown Pregnancy Choices provides help and comfort to those in need and alternative options to women seeking abortions.

The hope of the abortion protestors is to save the babies and to make known to the local people and workers inside the Germantown Office Park what is going on within the community. Many are ignorant to what Carhart does every week and information is provided to inform them.

The women entering the abortion clinic are typically visibly pregnant and have the usual pregnant walk that accompanies a woman who is in her second or third trimester. The strife on many of the women’s face is visible and the emotional pain is almost tangible. One may wonder, how are these atrocities still allowed under the law in a country that abides by “LIFE, liberty and happiness”? What rights are we fighting for in this country while innocent lives are being thwarted before they even have a chance to speak for themselves – where do our priorities fall?

The fall 40 days for Life Campaign is happening right now in Germantown, MD, along with other countless locations across the Unites States, praying to shut down clinics and end abortion. The vigilant prayer and witness to life is a testimony to many who remain ignorant of the tragedy going on around them. There is still time to publicly witness and stand for the rights of the children during this fall’s 40 days Life Campaign. Check out the 40 Days for Life website to come join many people with an earnest hope to dissuade the mothers from getting an abortion, and pray for the lives of the innocent that are killed daily.

Currently jobs and the economy are trumping the issue of abortion, as many other issues have for the past 33 years since Roe v Wade. Who will we support and help put into office to be the voice for the American people—born and unborn? What action will you personally take to end this atrocity that happens every day and often is unnoticed! Go and witness the holocaust site in Germantown MD, if you are near, or find a local abortion clinic, once you have been stung by the abortion issue there will be no turning back.

On Abortion Clinics, Pro-Lifers Are 'Close'-Minded

Tony Perkin, FRC Washington Update: Americans need to understand that when organizations like Planned Parenthood insist that women have a "right" to abortion, they don't mean a safe one. In clinics across the country, vulnerable women are shuttled in and out of clinics that look more like combat zones than surgical centers. Kermit Gosnell, who is on trial for 261 pages of abortion horrors at his Philadelphia clinic, put a real face on the "choice" movement. For his patients--and so many others--"choice" means being subjected to rusty equipment, bloodstained blankets, and untrained staff. And unfortunately, Gosnell is just one example of a nationwide nightmare. Like other clinic operators, the millionaire doctor shirked on safety to grow his profit margins. And thanks to a shift in pro-life strategy, that's all starting to change. In states across the country, America is getting serious about protecting women with airtight regulations for abortion clinics. In fact, when I was in the Louisiana legislature, I authored a bill to do exactly that. While conservatives are still trying to change people's minds about abortion, they're putting more emphasis on protecting the mothers that seek it. To do that, pro-lifers are cracking down on abortion at the source. It's what Dr. Theodore Joyce calls "The Supply-Side Economics of Abortion."

He expanded on this phenomenon in an article published by the New England Journal of Medicine. "Early approaches to restricting abortion access were directed largely at [women]--the demand side of the market& Perhaps frustrated by many women's determination to overcome demand-side hurdles, abortion opponents have turned to supply-side restrictions, focusing on providers of abortion services. This strategy is likely to be more effective." Believe it or not, abortion is one of the least regulated surgeries in the United States. In Pennsylvania, for instance, one district attorney said the state's clinics have fewer regulations than beauty salons or public schools. So one approach pro-lifers have taken, most recently in Virginia and Kansas, is passing laws that force abortion clinics to meet the same standards as ambulatory hospitals. That means more licensed staff, better sanitation, bigger rooms, and cutting-edge equipment. To most of us, that only sounds logical. But to abortion clinics, the bulk of which cut corners to make a profit, it represents a huge hurdle in doing business. For them, the emphasis has always been on revenue, not patient safety. When they're asked to comply with strict new health standards, most would rather shut down than protect women.

Take the state of Texas, for instance. Seven years ago, legislators passed a law that required all abortions at or after 16 weeks be performed in a hospital or ambulatory surgical center. Dr. Joyce points out that the policy had a shocking effect on the abortion rate. In one year, "the number of abortions performed in Texas at or after 16 weeks of gestation dropped by 88%, from 3,642 in 2003 to 446 in 2004." In Arizona, he explains, bearing down on the clinics had a similar effect. Leaders there passed a rule that only doctors could perform abortions. "As a result," Dr. Joyce writes, "Planned Parenthood of Arizona stopped performing abortion services in three clinics, since only nurse practitioners had been available." Ironically, the same groups spending millions of dollars to protect abortion are the ones fighting these laws. That, more than anything, should expose the pro-abortion movement for what it is: cold, calculating opportunists who see women as profit, not patients.

Pelosi: Lying from the Floor about Dying on the Floor

Tony Perkins' Washington Update: House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) never lets the facts get in the way of a good sound bite. Last night, she wasted no time blasting the Protect Life Act as some sort of legislative grim reaper. The bill, which saves taxpayers from subsidizing abortions under ObamaCare, was so popular that it passed with an 81-vote cushion. To be clear, the Act doesn't ban abortions under ObamaCare--it simply bans the taxpayer-funding of them. Still, the former Speaker insisted that if taxpayers don't fork over their dollars to kill innocent children, women everywhere will perish. "...[W]hen Republicans vote for this bill today, they will be voting to say that women can die on the floor and health care providers do not have to intervene."

Now, I don't know of any clinics that let patients lie on the floor (unless she's referring to ObamaCare hospitals that won't have enough beds), but her statements are the height of irresponsibility. In the seven years of Hyde-Weldon, there hasn't been a single instance when a doctor used these protections to refuse medical treatment. What the bill does do, ironically, is protect taxpayers from being the reason unborn children are dying on the floor. It restores government neutrality on the question of abortion funding. But unfortunately, the media isn't telling that side of the story. It's too busy giving legs to inaccuracies like Nancy Pelosi's.

Attempt By Planned Parenthood Operative To Deceive Mississippi Voters

bustedYes On 26:
Jackson, MS - Mississippi voters were in an uproar on Wednesday when Planned Parenthood Seattle Chaplain Vincent Lachina was exposed during a Mississippi Secretary of State's Personhood Amendment Hearing.

Speaking to a crowd of Mississippi voters, Lachina claimed to be a Southern Baptist minister, both "pro-life and pro-choice". Addressing the crowd in a clerical collar, Mississippians listened intently as Lachina shared that he grew up in Jackson and had a Mississippi heritage. Lachina boldly preached an ideology of choice from the pulpit, calling for a "no" vote on pro-life Amendment 26, but left out some critical details.

Lachina failed to mention that he is the Washington State Chaplain at Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Jacob Dawson, of the American Family Association, was sitting in the audience and decided to do a Google search of Lachina, having never heard of a Southern Baptist preacher from Mississippi by that name - much less a pro-choice, clerical collar-wearing Southern Baptist Preacher.

Dawson got up before the crowd and stated, "A quick Google search reveals that Mr. Lachina is from Seattle, and is a chaplain for Planned Parenthood."

The crowd was stunned, and many were outraged at the misrepresentation and deception of Planned Parenthood.

Further research on Mr. Lachina revealed the following statement: "We gay men don't need to worry about what the Republicans, the religious right, or homophobes will do to us." Vincent Lachina, "The Good Boy," The Advocate, January 30, 2007

The "Religious Right" mentioned by Lachina certainly must include Southern Baptists, who have historically opposed abortion and homosexuality, and have made public statements expounding on that opposition.

"Nationwide, we have seen Planned Parenthood's repeated attempts to deceive the public. These are just the kind of underhanded tactics we have come to expect from Planned Parenthood," explained Keith Mason, President of Personhood USA.

"It appears that Planned Parenthood flew a man from Washington to Mississippi, put him in a clerical collar, and asked him to appeal to the voters with deep Southern Baptist roots. It's just wrong. His attempts to dissuade voters from voting for Amendment 26 will not be successful. Yes on 26 is an honest campaign for a pro-life measure. No posturing or dress-up is necessary to see that all human beings are people, and that all people have a right to life."
