Leading black pro-life advocates will be on hand to protest the event, because the NAACP promotes abortion. Read More

Arkansas Senate OKs Ban on Abortions After Heartbeat Begins The Arkansas Senate voted today for a bill that would ban virtually all abortions in the state. The measure would ban abortions at the point when a unborn child’s heart starts to beat. At 22 days into pregnancy, before most women know they are pregnant, unborn children complete the development of their heart to the point that a heartbeat begins and the bill would stop abortions at that point. Doctor Insists Parents of Baby With Cleft Lip Starve Him to Death I first heard about the Peterson family in what you might call a “chance meeting.” (Of course I don’t believe in chances; I believe that there is Someone who has a plan and a purpose behind the random occurrences in our lives.) And I firmly believe that this amazing family’s story needs to be told. It’s scary. It’s shocking. And its implications are dangerous. How many other hospitals starve babies to death, simply based on a “defect”? How many other doctors instruct new parents to leave their newborns to die or wallow in an institution for the rest of their lives? Read More

Another Plaintiff Beats Obama HHS-Abortion Mandate in Court Another family-owned business has initially defeated the Obama mandate in court, after it sued to stop it from being compelled to pay for drugs that may cause abortions for its employees. Sebelius. Read More

Woman: Planned Parenthood Falsified Abortion Records, Denied Me Ultrasound The stinging tears and palpable heartbreak of a young woman deceived by Planned Parenthood say more than a book crammed with words ever could convey about the harm done to women when they are deprived of a glimpse of the humanity of their children before aborting them. “I just got back from Planned Parenthood,” a visibly distraught young lady says in a YouTube video posted on January 19. She had just picked up records from a Planned Parenthood abortion that happened six years earlier. She says Planned Parenthood falsified the records regarding her age at the time of the abortion. Pro-Life Victory in Court

Kerby Anderson
by Kerby Anderson, Point of View: Forty years after the Supreme Court decision on abortion, we are seeing many pro-life victories. But the average citizen is often unaware of these victories because the mainstream press rarely reports them. Most of the victories have been at the state level in the legislatures, but I also want to talk about a pro-life victory in the courts.

Let’s first consider what various state legislatures have been able to accomplish in the pro-life arena. They have been able to ban third trimester abortions while also requiring sonograms, clinic safety standards, waiting periods, and parental consent. States leading the way have been Louisiana, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, and Arizona. According to Americans United for Life, there were 92 pro-life laws enacted in 2011 and additional 43 pro-life provisions enacted in 2012.

Earlier this month, there was also a great pro-life victory in the Alabama State Supreme Court. The case involved women who put their unborn children at risk because they used illegal drugs during pregnancy. One of the women smoked meth days before her son was born prematurely. The child died minutes after birth of “acute methamphetamine intoxication.”

They were charged under an Alabama law, which makes it a crime to chemically indanger a child. The attorneys for the women argued that the chemical-endangerment law did not apply to unborn children. The court disagreed and upheld the convictions.

Here is what the court said: “The decision of this Court today is in keeping with the widespread legal recognition that unborn children are persons with rights that should be protected by law. Today, the only major area in which unborn children are denied legal protection is abortion, and that denial is only because of the dictates of Roe.”

I am excited about this pro-life victory in the Alabama State Supreme Court. I hope and pray that it is an indication of others to come. I’m Kerby Anderson, and that’s my point of view.

Republican Party Backs De-Funding Planned Parenthood The Republican Party is now officially on record as supporting the de-funding of the taxpayer-supported Planned Parenthood abortion business. On Friday, top GOP officials at the RNC approved a measure supporting efforts to revoke its taxpayer funding. As longtime pro-life and Republican attorney Jim Bopp informed LifeNews, the The Republican National Committee passed a resolution to end “any and all” taxpayer funding for Planned Parenthood, the nation’s biggest abortion company, and to send money to legitimate women’s health care efforts instead. Catholic University Will Keep Fighting Mandate After Defeat A new study from the Media Research Center shows the three major broadcast networks, (ABC, NBC, and CBS) gave 521 times more coverage to Manti Te’o’s fake dead girlfriend than they gave to over 500,000 real people at the March for Life. The study from MRCs Culture and Media Institute finds ABC, CBS, and NBC devoted close to two-and-a-half hours (147.7 minutes) to the Te’o fiasco and just 17 seconds to the March for Life. Abortion Clinic Closes in Ohio After Pledging to Stay Open >An abortion clinic in Columbus Ohio, Capital Care Women’s Center, has finally officially closed, after reports last year indicated it would do so and a pledge from its operators to stay open. Parents beware: Sex ed publisher ETR is an offshoot of Planned Parenthood
Critical to Planned Parenthood's success in reaching our children with its deadly message is its ability to go undercover to get its abusive information everywhere. It does so via the extensive networks it has built within communities, states, and on the national and international level. Its day-to-day dirty work in the field of sex education is often spun out by organizations to which it has close ties, particularly organizations that were at one time part of the Planned Parenthood conglomerate, but are now independent. One such organization is the Guttmacher Institute, which began as Planned Parenthood's research arm and was so much a part of the organization that its income was reported on Planned Parenthood Federation of America's annual reports from 1979 through 2006. Another Planned Parenthood offspring is ETR Associates ---- publisher and clearinghouse for Planned Parenthood-approved curriculum that is pushed as "evidence-based" and "comprehensive." Read More.

March For Life | Roe v. Wade

Rick and Kathy Santorum
2013 March for Life
by Gary Bauer: The March for Life is always a highlight of my year in Washington. I spoke to a number of pro-life groups this morning, including the Right to Life delegation from my home state of Kentucky.

The good folks who come here each year, often braving the worst of Washington's winter weather, give me hope that someday our nation will see Roe v. Wade for what it is: a rejection of our nation's highest ideal -- that liberty is a gift from God and that each of us has been endowed by our Creator with the right to life.

Forty years ago, the Supreme Court denied that right to unborn children. Roe v. Wade is fundamentally based on the same philosophy as Dred Scott. Dred Scott was a slave who sued for his freedom. The Supreme Court decided that he was no different than a horse or any other piece of property. As a black man, the court declared he had no rights we were bound to respect. Scott's life could be decided by someone else.

That is fundamentally the same decision that the court made in Roe v. Wade when it held that the unborn child had no rights we were bound to respect; that life in the womb could be snuffed out by someone else's choice.

There is tremendous irony that the first president of color, who surely sees the evil of Dred Scott, is the most aggressive defender of Roe v. Wade. So much so that he has promoted abortion overseas while he tries to force religious believers to pay for abortions here.

Roe Will Fall
While Roe v. Wade has stood for 40 years, it stands on very flimsy ground, and I believe it will fall.

Its moral flaws are self-evident. The court's majority claimed in 1973 that it was in no position then to "speculate" as to when life begins. Basic biology has always been clear on that point, but ultrasound technology has given us a window to the womb, so we can now witness the life growing there.

But as a matter of law, even liberals freely admit that Roe is deeply flawed. In a column this week, Tim Carney wrote about abortion's "foundation of lies." Consider this excerpt:"'One of the most curious things about Roe,' wrote liberal Harvard Law professor Laurence Tribe 'is that, behind its own verbal smokescreen, the substantive judgment on which it rests is nowhere to be found.' Alan Dershowitz, another legendary liberal Harvard Law professor, called Roe 'judicial activism' lacking 'clear governing constitutional principles.'

"Even [Justice] Ruth Bader Ginsburg called Roe 'Heavy-handed judicial intervention' that 'was difficult to justify.'

"'As a matter of constitutional interpretation and judicial method, Roe borders on the indefensible,' wrote Ed Lazarus, an Obama administration appointee and avowed pro-choicer who clerked for the decision's author, Justice Harry Blackmun."
There are more examples, but you get the point, which brings me to my next point. The men and women we elect to public office appoint and confirm the justices who sit on the Supreme Court. On the issue of life, public opinion is moving our way. Men and women of faith must remain engaged in the political arena so we can get pro-life judges nominated and confirmed.

Pro-life Rally Draws 650,000 to DC.

Pro-life rally draws 650,000 to DC. Now 55 million dead since Roe.

Chaplain Gordon James Klingenschmitt: The largest pro-life rally in recent history shook DC Friday, when approximately 650,000 pro-life Americans marched to protest abortion.

The 2013 March for Life was headlined by U.S. Senators, Congressmen, Pro-life leaders, and Presidential candidates (past and future) including Rand Paul and Rick Santorum.

Sadly, the major news media ignored the rally, which went widely unreported, proving their bias.

More sadly, now over 55 million babies have been killed by abortion since the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision 40 years ago.

But pro-life momentum is growing. Lifenews.com now reports 56% of Americans consider themselves "pro-life" (a record high) and only 41% consider themselves "pro-choice" (a record low).

Marching for Life in the Face of a Pro-Abortion Media

By Rich Noyes, Media Research Center: Today is the 40th annual March for Life in Washington, D.C., a day that is likely to pass with limited, if any, notice from a national news media which is hostile to the pro-life cause. While the abortion issue has divided Americans for the past four decades, journalists have consistently come down on the pro-abortion side of this debate.

It’s a bias some reporters freely admit. “I think that when abortion opponents complain about a bias in newsrooms against their cause, they’re absolutely right,” Boston Globe legal reporter Ethan Bronner told the Los Angeles Times back in 1990. “Opposing abortion, in the eyes of most journalists...is not a legitimate, civilized position in our society.”

In 2004, ABC News’s daily political newsletter, The Note, admitted that to “the Washington and political press corps... liberal political positions on social issues like gun control, homosexuality, abortion, and religion are the default.” That same year, New York Times Public Editor Daniel Okrent said that if one thought the Times was playing social issues like abortion “down the middle...you’ve been reading the paper with your eyes closed.”
Four surveys, from the 1970s through the 1990s, illustrate the media’s uniformity in favor of abortion. Robert Lichter and Stanley Rothman’s survey of 240 top journalists, conducted in 1979-1980 for their book The Media Elite, found that “90% agree that a woman has the right to decide for herself whether to have an abortion; 79% agree strongly with this pro-choice position.”

In 1985, the Los Angeles Times polled 2700 journalists around the country for an in-depth series on the media. This survey found a huge majority (82%) of reporters and editors favored allowing women to have abortions, vs. 14% who opposed abortion. Among readers, the split was much narrower, 51% to 42%.

In 1992, journalism professors David Weaver and Cleveland Wilhoit polled 1,410 journalists, and found 12 times as many (51%) agreed that abortion should be “legal under any circumstances,” vs. to just 4% who thought abortion should be “illegal in all circumstances.” When Gallup posed the same question to the general public in the fall of 1991, the gap was much narrower, with 33% wanting abortion “legal under any circumstances,” and 14% saying it should always be illegal.

And in 1995, Stanley Rothman and Amy Black polled elite journalists as part of a follow-up to the earlier Media Elite survey. This time, they found that “nearly all of the media elite (97%) agreed that ‘it is a woman’s right to decide whether or not to have an abortion,’ and five out of six (84%) agreed strongly.”

And covering the issue over the years, journalists have routinely characterized the pro-life stance as retrograde or anti-woman, including during last year’s presidential campaign, when Team Obama took advantage of the media’s pro-abortion bias to construct a phony “war on women” attack on conservatives.

Some of the more outrageous highlights from the Media Research Center’s archives demonstrating the media's hostility to the pro-life cause:
“Sadly, many home remedies could damage a fetus instead of kill it.” — Newsweek Senior Editor Melinda Beck on self-performed abortions, July 17, 1989 issue.

“‘To me, the struggle for abortion rights is as important to women as the struggle against slavery,’ says a Chicago Tribune reporter. ‘This isn’t about whether they’re going to build some bridge downtown. This is about my body.’” — Unidentified reporter quoted in August 14, 1989 Time article by Laurence Zuckerman.

“Senator Simon, is there any doubt in your mind that [Supreme Court nominee David Souter’s] views pretty well parallel those of John Sununu’s, which means he’s anti-abortion or anti-women’s rights, whichever way you want to put it?” — Dan Rather to then-Democratic Senator Paul Simon on the CBS Evening News, July 23, 1990.

“Bush, the exponent of a ‘kinder, gentler’ approach to government at the 1988 convention, was presented with a 1992 platform loaded with puritanical, punitive language that not only forbade abortions but attacked public television, gun control, homosexual rights, birth control clinics and the distribution of clean needles for drug users.” — Boston Globe reporter Curtis Wilkie, August 18, 1992 news story.

“Still ahead, the latest round of bloodshed and violence at abortion clinics. The anti-abortion movement has been creeping to the edge of bloody fanaticism for a decade.” — Jane Pauley, January 3, 1995 Dateline NBC.
“I would be happy to give him [Clinton] a blow job just to thank him for keeping abortion legal. I think American women should be lining up with their presidential kneepads on to show their gratitude for keeping the theocracy off our backs.” — Time contributor and former reporter Nina Burleigh recalling what she told the Washington Post’s Howard Kurtz about her feeling toward Bill Clinton, as recounted by Burleigh in the July 20, 1998 New York Observer.

“The platform is, again, very strongly pro-life and rejects abortion rights, and the platform specifically comes out against gay unions, and against legal protections based on sexual preferences. So is this really an open, compassionate, tolerant party?” — Charles Gibson to Lynne Cheney, August 2, 2000 Good Morning America.
“Since September 11, the word ‘terrorist' has come to mean someone who is radical, Islamic and foreign. But many believe we have as much to fear from a home-grown group of anti-abortion crusaders.” — ABC’s Jami Floyd on 20/20, November 28, 2001.

“The abortion platform here is pretty hard right when it comes to the abortion question — with which you have some disagreement, I think, with the party still.” — NBC’s David Gregory to ex-New Jersey Governor Christie Todd Whitman, MSNBC convention coverage, September 2, 2008.

“Who woke up in the Republican Party one day recently and said, ‘I know what, let’s go after reproductive rights in the United States’? What was that about?”
— NBC anchor Brian Williams during live Super Tuesday coverage, March 6, 2012.

“Are you prepared to leave this gathering and own the fact that the platform of this party allows a woman, who has been raped, no exception but to carry that child to term?...In a business where you and your opponent are trying to attract, especially, suburban women, does it send the right message?” — NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams to vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan, August 30, 2012.
“A lot of women look at the Republican platform on abortion, contraception, a number of issues, and ask the question whether Republicans have women’s best interests at heart?” — CBS anchor Scott Pelley in an interview with Ann Romney shown on the August 28, 2012 Evening News.
“There’s a Grand Canyon of difference between Obama, who’s very pro-choice, and, for example, the Republican ticket this year, which would give 14th Amendment rights, whatever that means, life, liberty, and property rights, to a fetus that had just been — or rather, an egg that has just been fertilized, right after sex, if you will....It’s almost like Sharia. You’re saying to the country, we’re going to operate under a religious theory....” — Chris Matthews during MSNBC’s pre-debate coverage, October 16, 2012.

“Kate, what do you think it’s going to take to get abortion rights back on track and not deny it from those who need it?” — MSNBC fill-in anchor Alex Witt to Time staff writer Kate Pickert on NewsNation, January 3, 2013.

Harry Reid Forced to Back Down on Killing Senate Filibuster Republicans have successfully forced Harry Reid to back down from killing the filibuster in the Senate, which would have paved the way for pro-abortion judges and legislation. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Republican Leader Mitch McConnell have agreed to very modest changes in the filibuster that are leaving some of the most ardent pro-abortion Democratic members of the Senate upset more wasn’t done. The liberal lawmakers wanted Reid to implement the talking filibuster reform, which would force senators seeking to block legislation to stay on the Senate floor to keep a filibuster alive rather than just threatening one. Gwen Moore says the decision resulting in nearly 56 million abortions affirms motherhood. Moore made the comments in an interview on the liberal cable news network MSNBC. Read More

Is There Any Pro-Life Hope Roe v. Wade Will Be Overturned? This week, as you and your family join other believers across America in pausing to remember, and to grieve, the 40thyear since one of the worst Supreme Court decisions in our nation’s history, we do so differently perhaps, than we ever have before … with real, tangible hope that the end of this terrible, open season on children in the womb is coming, at last, to an end. And with the conviction that our children will, in Jesus name, see the infamous Roe v. Wade decision overturned – and the slaughter end – in their lifetimes. The current generation of college students will live in a post-Roe era. Read More

New York Governor Pushing Bill for 3rd-Term Abortions New York Governor Andrew Cuomo is pushing a bill in the New York state legislature that pro-life advocates are aggressively opposing. They say the so-called Reproductive health bill is the “the most sweeping abortion legislation in the nation” because it would lift limits on third-trimester abortions and allow non-physicians to do abortions. “Gov. Cuomo’s bill elevates abortion to a fundamental right and says New York state can’t discriminate on abortion in benefits or services or anything else it provides,” said Kathleen Gallagher, the New York’s Catholic Conference director of pro-life activities. Obama Administration Protects Chimps, No Protection for Unborn The NIH has restricted research on chimpanzees, and now is likely to retire all but fifty of available chimps to a sanctuary. Salon Article Says Unborn Baby is “A Life Worth Sacrificing” A new article from a writer at the liberal online publication Salon is one of the most extreme pro-abortion diatribes ever written. It is so in-your-face that it is already sending shockwaves through the Internet just hours after its publication. The content of the article, some of which is excerpted below, needs no words to show how shocking the content is from Mary Elizabeth Williams, who starts her piece saying, “So what if abortion ends a life?” Read More

Isn’t Killing 55 Million Babies Enough? Time for Roe to Go Monday marked the inauguration of President Obama to a second term as the most pro-abortion president in our nation’s history. He is unyieldingly committed to upholding Roe v Wade, the Supreme Court decision ushering in the age of abortion. That the inauguration was held on the annual day of remembrance of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is deeply ironic. While King led a nation–changing civil rights movement, the longest running civil rights movement in our nation’s history is the pro-life movement. Read More

Four Doctors: We’re Proud to Be Doing Third-Trimester Abortions This is one of those stories where it helps to take a deep breath and remember that because of the lies surrounding abortion, many people simply don’t realize what they are defending. Abortion supporters think they are on a moral crusade, one which they would say is about defending women’s rights. That being said, however, sometimes the gap between “good intentions” and actions is harder to understand. Such is the case when artists set out to tell “a more human” story about abortion, and end up leaving out crucial information that any journalist would naturally find important. This is pretty much the definition of propaganda. Read More

Aquila of Denver has a unique one. He experienced the reality of abortion in a way most people never have. In a new interview with the National Catholic Register, he talked about the experience of seeing the body of a baby who had been victimized by abortion in a sink. It left such an indelible impression on him that he said he will forever be pro-life. Read More

Cassy Fiano: Can you tell me a little about yourself and your background? Read More

NARAL’s Pro-Abortion Science Fail: “A Zygote is Not a Baby” The pro-abortion group NARAL tweeted out pro-abortion statements from members and supporters yesterday to make the 40th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade decision allowing virtually unlimited abortions. In its haste to celebrate abortion, NARAL tripped up over basic junior high level science. The pro-abortion group retweeted a tweet with the message: “I’m pro-choice because I understand that a zygote is not a baby.” Read More
