Superbowl Pampers Ad Celebrating Babies - Powerful Pro-Life Video

Life News: While the upcoming Superbowl ads count on puppies and scantily clad women for views, Pampers is counting on something infinitely more precious: babies – both born and unborn.

Pampers’ new ad, A Newborn Journey of Firsts, boasts almost 950,000 views on YouTube since its release earlier this month. With the video’s focus on multiple babies, Pampers aims to show how “every first is significant no matter how small they seem” – “[f]rom the first scan to the first cuddle.”

From the beginning, the video shows a sonogram of a baby giving her first “hello” with a heartbeat playing in the background. The ad progresses to show the touching journey of babies’ and parents’ “firsts” together – from “Your first tears of joy” to “Her first word.”
Ad reads: From the first scan to the first cuddle, every first is significant no matter how small they seem. For both baby and mom, it's a journey full of firsts. And there's nothing more rewarding than experiencing each and every one together.

Here's the Reason Why Thousands Marched for Life in the Cold

GFFL Editor's Note: The following relevant article has been modified as to verb tense and other minor content since the article is shared after the 2015 March for Life. Photo's added by editor.

Trivium School (Lancaster, MA) Students In March for Life
by Sarah Torre, The Daily Signal: Hundreds of thousands of Americans gathered on the National Mall to participate in the annual March for Life, commemorating the 42nd anniversary of the Supreme Court’s decisions in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, which invented a constitutional right to abortion-on-demand.

It was primarily a time for somber remembrance. A time to reflect on the enormous cost of abortion by remembering the more than 56 million children who have lost their lives since that fateful day in 1973 and the countless women who still suffer from abortion’s physical and emotional tolls.

Trivium School (Lancaster, MA) Students In March for Life
But the March was also a time for celebration. Because of the hope it presents and the truth it professes, the pro-life movement–against legal, political and cultural odds–has been able to reorient the hearts and minds of an entire generation.

Every day, more than 2,000 pregnancy centers provide counseling, medical services and continued to support to women facing unplanned pregnancies, empowering them with life-affirming options. Across the country, courageous state policymakers continue to pass a record number of commonsense policies protecting women from a dangerous abortion industry and restoring respect for the dignity of both mother and child in law.

Because of those tireless efforts, more and more Americans consider themselves “pro-life” – particularly millennials who will make up a considerable portion of the March today.

Despite the many hard fought victories in law and culture, challenges persist. An ever-encroaching government is trampling on the conscience rights of pro-life Americans and Obamacare continues to find new ways to send taxpayer money to the abortion industry. Embarrassingly permissive laws on late-term abortion have left U.S. policy at odds with the majority of Americans and extreme among developed nations.

Also, the House of Representatives voted and passed the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion Act. The bill would prohibit any federal funds from being used to pay for elective abortion or health benefit plans that cover abortion, including those offered through Obamacare exchanges.

That’s a good and long-overdue step to ensuring that the federal government cannot continue to entangle tax dollars with coverage for life-ending procedures. But it cannot and should not be the last step for this Congress.

The vast majority of Americans – including nearly 60 percent of women – support legislation that would limit dangerous and gruesome late-term abortions after 20 weeks. That’s five months, or halfway through pregnancy, when children can feel pain and women are at increased risk for the negative effects of abortion. Because of national leaders’ failure to advance protections for women and unborn children, the U.S. is currently one of only seven countries – among them North Korea and China – in which elective abortion after 20 weeks is allowed.

Protecting the health of women and the lives of unborn children who are so close to viability is a policy the American people overwhelming support and our collective conscience demands.

The pro-life movement is a winning cause not because it always politically popular or easy, but because it’s a cause built on an undeniable truth: that every human being – from the moment of conception – is a person with inestimable value, dignity and the right to life. We cannot continue to deny that right to youngest and most vulnerable children in our society simply because they are small, dependent, disabled or simply inconvenient.

As the Marches for Life continue, we look forward to the day when the law respects the dignity and value of every human life. It will be a victory won one heart and one policy at a time and sustained by the determination and courage that has characterized the pro-life movement’s efforts for decades.

Why She Marched: A Mom’s Story of Raising Her Daughter With Down Syndrome

by Melissa Quinn and Alex Anderson: For Eileen and Sadie Haupt, this year’s March for Life, centered around the theme “Every Life is a Gift,” held special meaning.
During her pregnancy with Sadie, her second daughter, doctors asked Eileen if she wanted to undergo prenatal testing to see if her child had any health issues. Just as she had done with her first child, Eileen, who was then 39, opted out.

But when Eileen held Sadie in her arms for the first time after giving birth, she noticed something slightly different about her child when looking into her eyes. Sadie’s eyes were puffy, and in her head, Eileen told herself that her newborn had Down Syndrome.

“It’s not to say that it wasn’t emotional—it was emotional at times. But we just adapted pretty well, I think,” Eileen said.

When Sadie was an infant, Eileen stumbled upon a statistic that said 90 percent of babies with Down Syndrome are aborted.

That moved her to action.

She and another mother of a child with Down Syndrome, Leticia Velasquez, started the group Keeping Infants with Down Syndrome in 2008 to raise awareness about the abortion rate of babies with the disorder. They come to Washington, D.C., every year to participate in the March for Life.

“We really felt there needed to be a presence in the march for families who have children with special needs, and in our case Down Syndrome,” Eileen said.

And this year was no different.

More than 15 parents and their children traveled to Washington, D.C., this week to March with KIDS and the hundreds of thousands of other attendees.

Though they, too, came from across the country, the families bonded with one another over their experiences with Down Syndrome. At the March, blue and yellow balloons traveled with the group as a symbol of their efforts to raise awareness about the disorder.

March for Life attendees gathered yesterday in the shadow of the U.S. Capitol for the annual event. The gathering began as an answer to the U.S. Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade, and this year’s event marked the 42nd time demonstrators made the 1.5-mile walk.

Students, teachers, nuns, priests and families from all corners of the country came together to march from the National Mall to the Supreme Court, calling for an end to abortion. Millennials donned signs proclaiming themselves the “pro-life generation” and mothers pushing strollers held others calling for an end to the procedure.

For parents struggling with whether to keep their baby after prenatal testing, Eileen has one piece of advice.

“Prenatal tests can tell you a lot,” she said. “But it cannot tell you the love and the joy that child can bring to the community. There’s just no test for that.”

Aware of Reported Rape Exception, Women Still Overwhelmingly Support 20-Week Abortion Ban

by Katrina Trinko: Americans care.

Washington, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to realize that Americans believe 5-month-old unborn children deserve have to their right to life protected. Or that as a nation, America says that when a child is moving, can hear and has a heartbeat, that child deserves the right to live—and deserves a nation that honors that right.

Americans care—but Washington isn’t hearing them.

On Wednesday night, House Republican leaders canceled plans to have a vote Thursday on the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. The legislation would have banned abortions after 20 weeks, except in cases where rape or incest had been reported to authorities.

“The evening switch comes after a revolt from a large swath of female members of Congress, who were concerned about language that said rape victims would not be able to get abortions unless they reported the incident to authorities,” reported Politico.

But this bill passed in the House in 2013 without controversy over the exceptions. Furthermore, polling about this legislation specifically mentioned how the exceptions would work.

“In 2013 the House of Representatives approved legislation that would ban virtually all abortions nationwide after 20 weeks of pregnancy, except in cases of rape and incest that are reported to authorities,” Quinnipiac University told poll respondents. “Would you support or oppose such legislation?”

In response to that specific question, 60 percent of Americans, including 59 percent of women, said they would support such legislation in response to the poll, which was released in November.

They knew exactly what the exceptions were—and they still backed the legislation.

It’s unclear if the exception is even the true reason some GOP members revolted. It may have been over an unwillingness to pursue the social issues.

“Rep. Renee Ellmers repeated her critique from the GOP’s retreat in Hershey, Pa., last weekend that voting on abortion bills so early in the session would turn off millennial voters,” reported National Journal.

Ironically, the Quinnipiac poll found that 57 percent of 18- to 29-year-olds backed the 20-week ban on abortion.

When’s the last time GOP has backed a policy that has had nearly 6 out of 10 millennials supporting it?

Yes, people care about taxes and personal freedom and bread-and-butter issues.

But they also care about life. They care about making the United States a humane nation, a nation that says no, we will not tolerate the legal killing of children who are this developed, who are as a little as a week away from being able to survive outside of the womb if born premature. (In 2011, Frieda Mangold, born at 21 weeks, survived.)

Virtually every other country says it is unacceptable for a child this old to be aborted. Only seven countries in the world—including United States, North Korea and China—allow elective abortions after 20 weeks.

Americans have spoken—and have said loudly and clearly they care about this. They care about making the United States a country good enough to protect the right to life for these children.

It’s time for Washington to listen.

High Court to Rule on States Rights and Marriage

by CitizenLink Team: The U.S. Supreme Court is set hear a group of cases that will determine the constitutionality of marriage amendments.

Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee and Michigan are part of the lawsuits, which will be heard in the spring with a decision to come down possibly in late June.

Bruce Hausknecht is a judicial analyst for Focus on the Family.

“Even the liberal members of the Supreme Court today have criticized the Court for jumping into that issue that was working itself out at the state level,” he said. “The question now is: Will those same justices learn from the mistakes of the past, or repeat them?”

In our 90 Second Reaction video, Hausknecht puts the news into perspective and talks about what supporters of marriage will be looking for when the case goes before the court.

Never Underestimate What One Person Can Do

Kristan Hawkins, President, Students for Life of America: The abortion industry is in a state of panic. They are at a complete loss on how to reach you – the younger generation who is more intensely passionate about ending abortion than your peers are about supporting it and who believe abortion is morally wrong.

They have tried winning you over by saying that they want abortion to be safe, legal and rare.

Then they tried to throw out the term “pro-choice” because it’s no longer resonating with you.

Then they tried to tell you that pro-life politicians and businesses wanted to take away your rights.

Then they tried to de-stigmatize abortion by saying it’s a hard decision but responsible one.

Then they tried to de-stigmatize abortion, again, but by saying that it’s an easy decision.

And now their latest scheme to win your approval is to just fool you by saying over and over again that abortion is a social good so that you will come to believe it.

The trouble is that you have grown up with the incredible advantage of technology. You’ve seen your brothers, sisters, and maybe even your own children’s fingers and toes and heard their heartbeat during an ultrasound. It’s undeniable that the child in the womb is a child, a living human being, and that an abortion takes the life of that child.

The trouble is that you have grown up knowing the scientific evidence of when life begins and that abortion ends that life.

The trouble is that you don’t believe the spin on abortion since you know it’s wrong because that little life has the same right to life as any other human being and the taking of that life is exactly what abortion does.

And this is why the abortion industry can’t get their story straight. Their latest antics of using an argument of abortion being a social good is mind-blowing. A social good is something that is good for everyone, that we should all be able to get behind – like clean air and water. Is abortion as good as drinking clean water? How do those two even equate? They don’t, and you’re smart enough to know that.

In just a few days, all of you are going to shock the abortion industry by showing your energy, passion and enthusiasm at the National March for Life in Washington, D.C.. A few years ago, the former head of the abortion group NARAL, Nancy Keenan, said that she was just shocked at how young the participants at the March for Life were. She was simply blown away.

Not only are all of you young, passionate pro-lifers but you are smart, which is why abortion advocates will never win you over with their ridiculous arguments. Nothing can take away the fact that abortion is the taking of a life of a child and hurts both mom and baby.

But it’s not over after the March for Life. You will go back to your campuses with a renewed sense of purpose and strength and educate your peers on the reality of abortion. You will hold baby showers for pregnant students on campus. You will show displays on how the abortion industry targets college students. You will chalk, table, and clipboard for new members. You will pray outside of abortion facilities. You will turn women away from Planned Parenthood.

You will be our movement’s army of love and that, my friends, is what scares abortion advocates the most.

Planned Parenthood Kills 1,000 Times As Many Blacks As Cops Do

by Bryan Fischer, OneNewsNow.com: The facts say Planned Parenthood terminated the lives of 117,955 black babies in 2013. The previous year, cops killed 123 black men. Um ... maybe something should be done about Planned Parenthood?

According to Black Genocide, Planned Parenthood situates 78 percent of its abortion clinics in minority neighborhoods. It's almost as if Planned Parenthood is targeting black and brown babies.

And perhaps it is. Margaret Sanger, the founder of PP, shockingly said, "Colored people are like human weeds and are to be exterminated." She created the Negro Project to sterilize unwitting black women and others she considered undesirable. Her motto was grotesque as well as Hitler-esque: "More children from the fit, less from the unfit."

I well remember, back in 2008, when Lila Rose and LiveAction released recordings of a call an actor made to the Planned Parenthood offices in my hometown of Boise, Idaho. Here is an excerpt:

Idaho (Planned Parenthood) Representative: Autumn Kersey, Director of Development
Idaho Donor: The abortion – I can give money specifically for a black baby, that would be the purpose?

PP Rep: Absolutely. If you wanted to designate that your gift be used to help an African-American woman in need, then we would certainly make sure that the gift was earmarked for that purpose.

Idaho Donor: Great, because I really faced trouble with affirmative action, and I don't want my kids to be disadvantaged against black kids. I just had a baby; I want to put it in his name.

PP Rep: Yes, absolutely.

Idaho Donor: And we don't, you know we just think, the less black kids out there the better.

PP Rep: Understandable, understandable.

Idaho Donor: Right. I want to protect my son, so he can get into college.

PP Rep: Alright. Excuse my hesitation, this is the first time I've had a donor call and make this kind of request, so I'm excited, and want to make sure I don't leave anything out.
According to Planned Parenthood's own numbers, PP performed 327,653 abortions in 2013 (the last full year for which numbers are available). They did much of this on your dime and mine, taking in a staggering $540 million (almost $1.5 million a day) in taxpayer funds to carry out its grisly mission. In other words, we are paying them about $1,500 for every dead baby.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, 36 percent of all abortions are done on black women. Doing some quick math (36% of 327,653) reveals that Planned Parenthood terminated the lives of 117,955 black babies that year.

Now the low-information media was aflame for a good part of 2014 with breathless and hyperbolic stories of young black men killed by white cops. The media did its best to create the impression that frenzied and racist cops were gunning down unarmed black men at an epidemic rate.

But the facts tell a different story. According to the CDC, cops killed 123 black men in 2012. And the vast majority of these involved the justifiable use of force.

When we juxtapose these numbers, a sobering picture emerges. Cops kill 123 black men in a year while Planned Parenthood performs 117,953 abortions on black women a year. Now 117,953 is nearly 1,000 times larger than 123 (958.98 to be precise).

Bottom line: Planned Parenthood kills 1,000 times as many blacks as cops do. If "black lives matter" – and I believe they do – maybe doing something about Planned Parenthood is the place to start.

Why Don’t Abortion Advocates Care About Women’s Safety?

by Genevieve Wood: Should abortion facilities have to follow the same standards as other medical clinics?

If you thought the answer to that, regardless of your views on abortion, should be “duh,” you’d be wrong.

In fact, we had quite the spirited debate on PBS’s “To The Contrary” this week about that. A provision in a Texas law passed in 2013 states “minimum standards for an abortion facility must be equivalent to the minimum standards adopted for ambulatory surgical centers.”
And what are such standards? According to documents of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals now hearing the challenge to the Texas law:The regulatory standards for ambulatory surgical centers contain two main categories: (1) physical plant, which includes architectural, electrical, plumbing and HVAC requirements, …and (2) operations, which includes requirements for medical records systems, training, staffing and cleanliness…Abortion rights supporters say it’s not necessary for abortion clinics to have the same standards as other medical clinics. In fact, one of my fellow panelists went so far as to claim no surgeries are happening in these clinics.

Do they really believe that?

The fact is that unless a woman is in her earliest stages of pregnancy, under eight weeks, a surgical and invasive procedure must be used. You can read the unpleasant details of what is involved right here under what Planned Parenthood calls “In-Clinic Abortion Procedures.”

Planned Parenthood specifically states that, “Even though in-clinic abortion procedures are generally very safe, in extremely rare cases, serious complications may be fatal.”

Not sure about you, but if I’m undergoing any procedure that has the risk of being fatal, I’d like the facility in which I’m having that procedure to be prepared to perform life-saving measures.

The fact is that women who undergo a surgical abortion face several of the same risks that someone who undergoes any type of serious surgery face: risks of blood clots, hemorrhaging and infection.

And because abortion clinics have not been more regulated, there is a growing list of clinics around the country now coming under investigation and scrutiny for failing health inspections and harming women. Kermit Gosnell’s “house of horrors” in Philadelphia is not, as this listing of violations in over 15 states shows, an outlier.

Abortion advocates claim that if abortion clinics are forced to comply with these regulations they will be forced to close down because they can’t afford the upgrades.

But perhaps abortion facilities should consider asking the nation’s largest abortion provider, Planned Parenthood, for financial assistance – it receives hundreds of millions of dollars from the federal government each year and reported income of more than $58 million for 2012-2013.

This is one area where one would think both pro-lifers and abortion rights advocates could find some common ground.

But those supporting abortion rights seem to care more about keeping the doors to abortion clinics open than preserving the health and safety of women.

Abortion Update

by Penna Dexter, Viewpoints: After 42 years of legal abortion, how does one even comprehend 57 million unborn children aborted? Oregon Right to Life came up with a YouTube video that helps us get our heads around: “How many is 57 million?”

The 4 ½ minutes long and it begins by declaring: “The United States Legalized Abortion in 1973.” Then, as the screen shows the date change to 1974, 1975, ‘76 and so on, the number of babies aborted ticks up — really fast. In 1983, after just ten years, the number of abortions surpasses 13 million. Above the numbers, there’s a map and, as the numbers roll, whole states begin to disappear. They just drop off the map as the number of abortions keeps rising. The numbers stop rolling at 2014. By then, the map depicts a country that’s split up with huge swaths missing.
A devastating picture.

This month especially we pray for an end to abortion. Today, the numbers are down, but, still, 21 percent of pregnancies end in abortion. That’s one fifth of babies — aborted.

We pray that restrictions on abortion would be upheld. Last week, the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit heard oral arguments in a case challenging Texas’s law regarding abortion clinics. The law requires that these facilities meet the staffing, construction, and equipment standards of ambulatory surgery centers. States legislatures reasoned: if women have a so-called right to choose abortion, they at least deserve the safest abortion possible. That’s also why states are passing laws requiring that abortionists have admitting privileges at a local hospital. Plus, many states are now requiring that women be given the option to view sonograms of their unborn babies. And mandatory counseling and waiting period laws are being passed across the nation.

These laws face court challenges. Last month the Fourth Circuit Court of Appeals struck down North Carolina’s sonogram law. The Fifth Circuit has already upheld similar legislation passed in Texas. North Carolina’s law included a 24-hour waiting period and required the mother to be given certain information before consenting to an abortion. The state’s attorney general says he’ll appeal it to the U.S. Supreme Court.

The U.S. Congress isn’t wasting any time resuming debate over laws forbidding late term abortions. Representatives Trent Franks of Arizona and Marsha Blackburn of Tennessee introduced the “Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.” This law prohibits abortion after 20 weeks — that’s five months — gestation. The law’s findings, stipulating that the unborn child can feel pain at that age, are meant to deter women from having abortions.

This year’s March for Life, which takes place February 22 on the National Mall in DC, focuses on abortions done because of the discovery of a prenatal disability. “Every Life is a Gift” is the theme — and March for Life President Jeanne Monahan adds “even ones that are not perfect.”

She is so right.

Special Alert: Supreme Court to Consider Future of Marriage

by Kim Trobee, CitizenLink: The Supreme Court announced today it will hear cases dealing with state marriage amendments.

Ohio, Kentucky, Michigan and Tennessee will get their day in court in April, with a decision to be handed down early next summer. At issue is the right of a state to define marriage in its constitution and decide whether to recognize same-sex marriages performed in other states.

John Stemberger, president of the Florida Family Policy Council, filed a lawsuit in his state hoping to protect a marriage amendment there. He called the issue an “open question” until the Supreme Court rules.

“It is very possible a five-vote-majority exists in favor of states’ rights,” he said, “and a decision of this nature would immediately reinvigorate the authority and enforceability of the Florida marriage amendment passed by just under five million voters. People should have the right to vote on defining marriage, and we are very hopeful the high court will uphold that right.”

Bruce Hausknecht, judicial analyst at Focus on the Family, looked back to a decision in which the high court ruled marriage was a state issue.

“There are 30 states where voters approved constitutional amendments in order to keep the state courts out of the marriage redefining business,” he said. “However, that didn’t prevent federal courts from stepping in and trampling the will and wisdom of those citizens.

“Once before, we watched the Supreme Court mandate a 50-state solution to a social issue in the abortion case of Roe v. Wade. That set off a cultural conflict that is still going strong, 42 years later. Even the liberal members of the Supreme Court today have criticized the Court back then for jumping into that issue that was working itself out at the state level. The question now is: Will those same justices learn from the mistakes of the past, or repeat them?”

He said the Constitution is still in place, and the 14th Amendment hasn’t changed, just the opinions of some judges.

“The bottom line on marriage is that no matter how much the courts interfere, they can’t really change the true definition of marriage, and they can’t change what is best for kids: a married mom and dad.”
