Arkansas Dedication Of Memorial Garden for the Unborn

by Rose Mimms: A public dedication of the Arkansas Memorial Garden for the Unborn will be held this Sunday, September 4th from 2:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Life Center on 1515 South University Avenue in Little Rock by Bishop Anthony Taylor, of the Diocese of Little Rock. Also participating in the brief program will be Rose Mimms, executive director of Arkansas Right to Life, Carrie Jones and a musical performance by Amanda Trice.

The Arkansas Memorial Garden for the Unborn is a public outreach of Father Thomas Keller’s Life Center, Arkansas Right to Life and the Rachel Memorial Foundation to honor the lives of unborn children lost due to abortion or natural causes. Located next to a former abortion clinic, the garden serves
as a place of reflection, reconciliation and rest for those who made an abortion decision or suffered a loss of life. It is also a place for families and the community who want to enjoy the beauty and peace of the garden.

The Arkansas Memorial Garden for the Unborn serves as a central memorial to recognize all the unborn children that died and continue to die from legal abortion in our state, primarily Little Rock and Fayetteville. The garden was created and designed by Joe Barnett of Little Rock Land Design and will be maintained by Arkansas Right to Life and the Life Center.

Father Keller established the Life Center in 1995 to promote the protection of human life, spiritual, emotional and mental life and physical health. The Life Center is the home of the state office of Arkansas Right to Life, the state affiliate of the National Right to Life Committee, and the oldest and largest pro-life organization in the state.

The Rachel Memorial Foundation is a non-profit group promoting national repentance over abortion by establishing memorial gardens at or near places where abortions were performed. The symbol that Rachel Memorial Foundation places on all their plaques is that of a large oak tree, from which hangs an empty swing. Their first memorial is located at St. Gabriel’s Anglican Church in Springdale, Arkansas to remember the thousands of unborn children killed by legal abortion in Washington County.
