Hospital Stops Abortions After Every Single Doctor Signs Pledge Refusing to Do Them

What! -- Where did this happen? In Poland!

A hospital in Poland has stopped doing abortions after every single physician there signed a pledge refusing to do them. This good news is a lesson for the United States and other countries where abortion is legal — that getting doctors to stand up for life and the Hippocratic Oath is a method of protecting women and unborn children even within the confines of legalized abortion. . . .

In the U.S. regarding doctors and abortions, the Obama Administration looks like it’s on a mission to trample religious and conscience protections and force as many people as it can to promote and pay for abortions. ... Read More

Pro-life Congressman Was Almost An Abortion Victim

 Representative David Schweikert, R-AZ
Fifty-three years ago, Representative David Schweikert, R-AZ, was born to a mother who nearly went through with an abortion. It would be 36 years before Schweikert, who was adopted..., met his birth mother and father -- and now he and his wife are passing the gift of life and parenting on to their own adopted child, Olivia.

In a lengthy interview with LifeSiteNews, Schweikert explained how his personal story -- including being raised by leaders in the state's pro-life movement -- has greatly influenced his views on abortion, adoption, and the growing success of the pro-life movement.

"I was born in an unwed mother's home"

"You've got to understand -- I was born in an unwed mother's home to a teenage mother," said Schweikert, "given up [for adoption] and adopted by a family that brought me to Arizona. So, the issue is somewhat personal, but also my brother and my sister came to the same environment. I've also had the uniqueness of having, not until my late thirties, an amazing relationship with my birth mom."

According to the Congressman, his relationship with his birth mother was "expanded a few years later, by accident, when my birth mom found something from my birth father's high school, which had a Social Security number. So, now, every Sunday, I speak to my birth father for about an hour. . . . Read More at LifeSiteNews

Ireland Won’t Defend Pro-Life Law As Citizens Rally For It

by Rebecca Oas, Ph.D, C-Fam: As one of the few European countries with strong laws protecting unborn children, Ireland has come under repeated attack from international institutions such as the United Nations and the European Court of Human Rights. Ireland’s constitution remains pro-life—but in the wake of the latest barrage of criticism, there are signs that the country’s resolve may be weakening.

In mid-May, Ireland took its turn in the Universal Periodic Review (UPR), a system in which countries are evaluated by other UN member states on their human rights record. Recommendations are not legally binding and can be accepted or merely “noted” by the recipient country. In the final report containing all the recommendations for Ireland, fifteen countries (out of 193) explicitly called on Ireland to move toward legalizing abortion. Another three countries, including the United States, urged Ireland to protect “reproductive rights,” which is often considered to include abortion.

This was Ireland’s second appearance before the UPR. In 2011, Ireland received six recommendations to liberalize its abortion laws, including one from Norway falsely implying that a UN treaty included a right to abortion. All were rejected. But in this latest cycle, Ireland agreed to “examine” the abortion-related recommendations, while admitting that accepting them was currently impossible given their existing laws.

However, Irish Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Justice Frances Fitzgerald called abortion a “live issue” and spoke of plans to form a citizens’ assembly to discuss the issue and promised to provide a response by September.

Despite no mention of abortion in any UN treaty, Ireland has been criticized by committees monitoring compliance with the UN treaties on torture, discrimination against women, and civil and political rights.

When the UN’s Human Rights Committee held discussions last fall to define the “right to life,” they excluded the unborn. The committee’s opinion is not binding, but fuels further pressure against countries whose laws affirm a higher standard.

Amnesty International has especially targeted Ireland for its pro-life laws. The spokesman for Amnesty’s Irish branch welcomed Ireland’s receptive response to the pro-abortion pressure.

Irish pro-life groups are urging the government not to back down. “There is of course no such thing as a “human right” to an abortion,” writes Cora Sherlock of the Pro-Life Campaign. “Such a notion would be obscene because abortion contravenes the most basic human right of all – the right to life… We expect the UN to act as a protector of human lives.”

Sherlock credits Ireland’s 8th Amendment, which protects both mothers and their unborn babies, with “saving the lives of thousands of people in Ireland.” The Pro-Life Campaign is holding a rally on June 4th to “Celebrate the 8th” and hear the “stories of families that would never have been if our constitutional protection for the unborn didn’t exist.” . . . Why Do They Call Them “Fetus” and “Vegetables” When Certain People are “Unwanted?”

Words matter. The terminology we employ not only reflects our values but helps to define them. Language is particularly important in bioethical debates, in which dehumanizing verbiage can distance us from our fellow human beings.

When embryonic stem-cell research was in the news, we were told constantly by scientists and the media that an early embryo was “just a ball of cells” that didn’t even “look human.” . . .

Words also have the power to degrade the human dignity of born and grown people. A classic example is the pejorative term “vegetable,” referring to those with severe cognitive disabilities and impairments. Even the diagnostic term used to describe the condition of permanently unconscious patients—“persistent vegetative state”—is pejorative, perhaps the only explicitly demeaning medical term. . . .

We see the same phenomenon in our debates around end-of-life care and assisted suicide. The Dutch euthanasia practitioner Dr. M.A.M. Wachter, ethicist/director for the Institute of Health in the Netherlands, made this point explicitly when he appeared at a 1990 international euthanasia society convention. “The definitions build the road to euthanasia,” he stated, explaining that even the word “euthanasia” (“good death”) could harm the cause, because people naturally recoil from the killing act.

Thus, Wachter urged his audience to prevaricate and obfuscate . . . This is precisely why the Hemlock Society, an assisted-suicide advocacy organization, changed its name to Compassion and Choices and now deploys the euphemism “aid in dying” in its media and advocacy materials. . . . West Virginia Becomes Latest State to Ban Dismemberment Abortion Tearing Off Baby’s Limbs

Sunday, May 29, 2016 marks the 90th day since final passage in the West Virginia legislature of the Unborn Child Protection from Dismemberment Abortion Act (SB 10). It will now take effect.

On March 10, the West Virginia Senate voted 25-9 and the House of Delegates voted 85-15 to override Governor Earl Ray Tomblin’s veto of the Dismemberment Abortion Ban, making West Virginia the third state to pass this historic legislation. . . .

In West Virginia, the bill garnered 100% support from women senators and 83% from women delegates.

Attorney General Patrick Morrisey has said he will defend the law should it be challenged in court.

. . . .despite a huge bipartisan majority in both houses, Governor Tomblin vetoed legislation that simply says we won’t dismember a living, fully formed unborn child by removing her limb from limb while she’s alive.” . . . Read More

Cecile Richards on New Planned Parenthood Clinic: “We Definitely Built This to Do Abortions”

Is Planned Parenthood about selling abortions or women’s health care? Well, the CEO of the abortion business, Cecile Richards, cleared that up yesterday aft the grand opening of a new abortion facility in New Orleans, Louisiana.

“We definitely built this so we can provide abortions,” she said yesterday. . .

As its own documents show, Planned Parenthood plans to sell 2,844 abortions on site each year over and above abortions already being performed elsewhere in New Orleans. The most recent numbers have Louisiana’s abortion count at 10,211 a year, but if Planned Parenthood has its way, that number will increase by 28% . . . Read More

Obama Appoints Transgender Activist To Faith Advisory Council

The day before announcing his highly contentious "transgender" bathroom mandate, President Obama appointed the first “transgender” LGBT activist to the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships earlier this month.

The newest member of the President’s Advisory Council on Faith-Based and Neighborhood Partnerships is 82-year-old Barbara Satin, who was born “David” and has been involved in LGBT activism since the 1990s. He took the name Barbara Satin when he was about 60 years old, when he began exploring his new identity as a “woman.” . . .

Before becoming “Barbara,” Satin was married with three children and was an officer in the U.S. Air Force. He “had a successful business career as director of public relations for a major international firm and was also a prominent leader in the Roman Catholic Diocese as well as a well-respected civic activist,” the Religious Archives Network reported.

Satin says that before living as a woman, he was chairman of the archbishop’s Council for the Archdiocese of Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Since becoming “Barbara,” Satin joined the United Church of Christ and “served on the denomination’s Executive Council as its first openly transgender member” and was involved in the lobbying the church to accept transgenderism in 2003. . . . Read More by Claire Chretien

Euthanasia Advocates Come Up With a Disgusting New Word to Describe Killing People

The euthanasia movement has always been about finding words and terms to mask the harshness of killing as a response to suffering.

Indeed, the word “euthanasia”–good death–did not originally refer to killing. Rather, it meant dying peacefully in a state of grace.

Now, the suicide fanatic Faye Girsh–former head of the Hemlock Society–reporting from a convention of the World Federation of Right to Die Societies, says the psychiatrist that brought euthanasia to the mentally ill in Netherlands has coined an obscuring word to replace “euthanasia” in the movement’s lexicon. . . . ”dignicide” . . . promoted by some to describe a self-selected rational and dignified death. . . . Read More by Wesley J. Illinois Passes Bill Forcing Every Doctor, Pharmacist and Pregnancy Center to Promote Abortion

Illinois came one step closer to forcing its pro-life medical community to choose between violating state law and violating deeply held religious conscience Wednesday, as the state’s House approved Senate Bill 1564 and set the legislation on the governor’s desk.

The bill, which would introduce decisive changes to Illinois’ Health Care Right of Conscience Act, passed by a 61-54 margin and now awaits the signature of Republican Gov. Bruce Rauner.

Originally put forward in the summer of 2015, the legislation would require pro-life medical providers, including 51 Illinois nonprofit pregnancy centers offering free services including ultrasound and STI testing, to take action the bill’s opponents say amounts to participating in an abortion. . . . South Carolina Governor Signs Bill to Ban Abortions After 20 Weeks When Babies Feel Pain

South Carolina Govenror Nikki Haley has signed a bill that would protect unborn babies from painful, late-term abortions.

On March 8, the South Carolina Senate passed the bill known as Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act by a strong majority, LifeNews reported. The state House, which is controlled by Republicans, approved the bill last week.

The bill has exceptions in cases where the mother’s life is in jeopardy and when doctors determine that the unborn baby has a fatal defect and cannot survive outside the womb, . . .

“South Carolina now joins thirteen other states in recognizing the humanity of the unborn child,” said Carol Tobias, National Right to Life president. “The smallest and most vulnerable members of our human family need our protection, and South Carolina has taken a vital step to save unborn children who are capable of feeling the excruciating pain of abortion.” . . . Rick Santorum Endorses Donald Trump Because “The Most Important Issue is the Supreme Court”

Former Republican presidential pro-life candidate Rick Santorum has endorsed presumptive nominee Donald Trump, saying the Supreme Court is the number one issue in the election and the nation can’t afford to have Hillary Clinton shaping it for decades.

“I’m 100 percent. That’s endorse,” Santorum said in an interview with Fox News host Greta Van Susteren Tuesday night.

“The most important issue is preserving the Constitution of this country and a liberal Supreme Court will destroy it,” Santorum said. “Donald Trump still has an opportunity to cast the right lot and win this election,” Santorum added. “He’s been very real, laying it all out on the line talking about things most politicians have not talked about.” . . . Planned Parenthood Loses Case to Stop Pro-Life Pastor From Speaking Outside Its Abortion Clinic

In a huge victory for free speech and unborn babies, United States District Judge Nancy Torresen, yesterday, issued a preliminary injunction barring the Maine Attorney General and City of Portland police officers from enforcing the Noise Provision of the Maine Civil Rights Act (“Act”). Under the Act, after being warned by a police officer, it is illegal to make noise that can be heard inside an abortion clinic with the intent to interfere with a medical procedure.

In a 35-page opinion and order, Judge Torresen, an Obama appointee, held that the Noise Provision of the Act is content-based because it restricts speech based on its purpose, and therefore, is facially unconstitutional.

The Thomas More Law Center (“TMLC”), a national, nonprofit public interest law firm based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, filed a lawsuit in December 2015, on behalf of Pastor Andrew March after a Portland police officer officially warned Pastor March under the Act, and ordered him to quiet his pro-life speech on the public sidewalk outside the Portland Planned Parenthood facility or face prosecution. Despite this threat of prosecution, Pastor Andrew March courageously continued to plead for the lives of the unborn at the doors of the Planned Parenthood facility. . . . Read More

Late-Term Abortion Activist Wendy Davis to Campaign for Pro-Abortion Hillary Clinton

They say birds of a feather flock together. And the old adage appears to be playing out in North Dakota where late-term abortion activist Wendy Davis will campaign for pro-abortion Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

Davis’ sole claim to fame is that she filibustered a bill in the Texas legislature that would have banned abortions on unborn babies up to the day of birth. Texas lawmakers eventually defeated her infamous filibuster and passed the pro-life bill, but Davis has since continued her abortion advocacy, raiding money for and speaking on behalf of Planned Parenthood. . . . Top Pro-Life Leaders to Meet With Donald Trump . . .

. . . Ben Carson Says Trump “is Pro-Life”
Since he’s become the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, pro-life voters are starting to move in Donald Trump’s direction. But many pro-life voters and some pro-life leaders remain skeptical about supporting Trump against pro-abortion Hillary Clinton.

To gain a better understanding and insight on his abortion views and to potential be able to endorse his candidacy, a group of top pro-life leaders plan to meet with Trump in the coming weeks.

Time magazine has more on the planned meeting:
Former presidential candidate Ben Carson is working with Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, and Bill Dallas, who leads United in Purpose, to plan a closed-door session for about 400 social conservative leaders to meet with Trump in the coming weeks in New York City. Just 22% of Americans Agree With Hillary Clinton on Supporting Unlimited Abortions

A new Gallup poll finds just 22 percent of Americans agree with Hillary Clinton’s view supporting unlimited abortions up to birth. The number is likely lower but Gallup did not phrase Clinton’s abortion views that way even though that accurately illustrates her abortion position.

The polling data comes on the same day as a report about Clinton promoting abortion on a global scale.

As Gallup reports: Hillary Clinton is unambiguously pro-abortion rights and has talked about her strong support for women’s reproductive rights for decades. Nevertheless, the public is only a bit less vague about her stance on the issue compared with Trump’s. Overall, 22% of Americans say they agree with her views and 32% disagree, while 46% are unsure. . . .

HILLARY CLINTON"S POSITIONS / WORDS
Clinton’s pro-abortion views are longstanding. In March 2009, Hillary Clinton received Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger award .... Clinton said that emphasizing and promoting abortion is a key issue in President Barack Obama’s foreign policy. She also defended taxpayer funded abortions for poor women.

During this election, Hillary has slammed a new law in Indiana banning abortions on babies with Down syndrome.

During an interview on The View recently Hillary Clinton said an unborn child just hours before delivery should have no Constitutional rights. ... which would include the right to life.

In February, Clinton defended partial-birth abortions: “My husband vetoed a very restrictive legislation on late-term abortions, and he vetoed it at an event in the White House where we invited a lot of women who had faced this very difficult decision, that ought to be made based on their own conscience, their family, their faith, in consultation with doctors. Those stories left a searing impression on me,” she continued.

Clinton has said more taxpayer money needs to go to the Planned Parenthood abortion business and Clinton demonstrated her unyielding commitment to abortion and the Planned Parenthood abortion business, accepting their endorsement during a pro-abortion rally . . . . “I will always defend Planned Parenthood and I will say consistently and proudly, Planned Parenthood should be funded, supported and protected, not undermined, misrepresented and demonized,” Clinton said. “As your president, I will always have your back.”

At a speech to the Women in the World Conference in April 2015, Hillary Clinton argued, “Far too many women are denied access to reproductive health care (aka. abortion) and safe childbirth, and laws don’t count for much if they’re not enforced,” In order to expand worldwide access to abortion, she suggested that “deep-seated cultural codes, religious beliefs and structural biases have to be changed.”

In May 2015, the U.S. House passed the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act to protect unborn babies 20 weeks and older from excruciating late abortions. In addition to a statement slamming House lawmakers for advancing the bill, Clinton tweeted, “When it comes to women’s health, there are two kinds of experts: women and their doctors. True 40+ years ago, true today.”

At a presidential forum at Drake University, Clinton called ending the life of another human being a “fundamental human right.”

The first order of business for Clinton and her friends at the abortion company is to force Americans to pay for abortions with their tax dollars by attempting to overturn the Hyde Amendment, which has protected Americans from funding most all abortions since the late 1970s. Upheld by the Supreme Court, the Hyde Amendment is now a target of abortion advocates who have moved from pro-choice to pro-abortion — forcing Americans not only to accept unlimited abortions before birth but to pay for them. ... Hillary Clinton Pushes for Unlimited Abortions Up to Birth on a Global Scale

Editor's Note: I am sure Rick Warren cringed when Hillary Clinton used the name of his Christian book, A Purpose Driven-Life to promote abortions on a global scale. From her remarks, Clinton is on this earth to promote more abortions.
---------------
In a video message yesterday, U.S. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton addressed the last day of the Women Deliver 2016 conference in Copenhagen, self-described as “the world’s largest global conference on the health, rights, and well being of girls and women in the last decade”, and the first such gathering since the launch of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Hillary Clinton’s message entitled A Purpose-Driven Life was described as “A thought-provoking video from Former U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton on women’s rights as human rights, and how to translate that vision from the 1995 World Conference on Women in Beijing to action in the 21st century.” . . .

Abortion was a topic of official discussion and dominated side events hosted by leading abortion promoters and providers including Ipas, IPPF, and Marie Stopes.

Abortion-related topics during the conference and at side events included:
  • Increasing Access to Safe Abortion: Solutions from the Front Line
  • Working with Faith Leaders on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights
  • Innovations to increase access to safe abortion
  • A 21st-Century Agenda for SRHR
  • Supporting Expanded Roles for Abortion services by Healthcare workers
  • The Private Sector Role in Safe Abortion Provision
  • Sexual and Reproductive Rights Within Communities
  • Tackling Stigma to Increase Women’s Abortion Access and Rights

Landmark Conference at UN Promotes a “Family-Friendly World”

Uniting Nations for a Family Friendly World photo
exhibition located in the UN Visitors’ Lobby
now through June 12th. (C-Fam)
by Wendy Wright, C-Fam: We are gathered here to celebrate the family,” said Afaf Konja. The former UN spokeswoman and the youngest of eight children then proceeded to get personal.

“It is my mother who taught me unconditional love, compassion, forgiveness and spirituality and through whom I was first introduced to the profound presence of God in my life. It was my father who gave me the courage to live with an open heart as I watched the decisions he made,” she said. “Yet the family has not received the attention it deserves” at the UN.

Konja moderated a half-day event at the UN on “Uniting Nations for a Family Friendly World,” hosted by dozens of countries and groups.

The countries are working together as the Group of Friends of the Family.

Valentin Rybakov, deputy minister of foreign affairs of Belarus, introduced the Group’s declaration that notes the myriad of ways the family nurtures individuals and is “a key actor in the transmission of values within society that are vital” to development.

The family “forms a protective environment against external threats and give hope for the future for all of its members,” Rybakov said.

Religious leaders kicked off the first panel.

“God placed Adam in paradise,” but he did not enjoy paradise until he had a wife, said Imam Shamsi Ali. The father of six said the “beginning of the pursuit of happiness is in the home.”

“Rest, peace, and tranquility must begin at home. Home must be our own paradise on this planet. The very first school in a human’s life is in their home.”

“Being free does not mean undermining the family,” Imam Ali said.

“The titles that mean the most to us when we take our last breath are of husband, father, wife, mother because marriage and family are profoundly sacred,” said Pastor Jim Garlow of the Skyline Church in San Diego.

Bishop John O’Hara likened the challenges today to that at the founding of the UN.

Before World War II, Cardinal Suhard saw “the world falling apart and totalitarianism on the rise” and challenged people they had “responsibility to bring order out of chaos,” Bishop O’Hara said.

After World War II, “in a world where individuals were tossed aside and family destroyed,” the mural in the UN Security Council was created “showing the true restoration of society comes through the family.”

“Family is central in our diverse religious traditions. Without family, we lose the sacredness of each person and lose our identity,” Bishop O’Hara said. “Lasting peace and true harmony is built on the solid rock of the family.”

This “rings true to us today as a challenge that as sacredness of the family, of husband and wife is threatened, redefined, distorted we need to bring order out of chaos. Otherwise we’ll be building our society on sand, not the solid rock.”

Annie Franklin of Family Watch International also drew attention to the Security Council mural on the panel showcasing experts. The mural shows “family is the phoenix that regenerates society from within.”

“The basis of the family is marriage,” said scholar Sherif Girgis. “Marriage is found in all ancient cultures. Man and woman come together to be husband and wife and to be father and mother to any children they rear.”

“Marriage unites children to their parents, and to their being reared by the man and woman who gave them life. It gives children the best shot of waking up under the same roof as the man and woman who gave them life,” Girgis said. It serves health and education, and all the things necessary for healthy society and political life.

“Changing the vision of marriage undermines every aspect of the common good that marriage serves,” he warned.

“If family is worth celebrating, so are the laws and policies that protect it,” said Susan Yoshihara of C-Fam. Despite political differences “we can all agree that fundamental rights should be protected.”

“Man and woman are equally important to the family, and the state must protect parents’ rights, ” said Yoshihara. “The inherent nature of the family is powerful and fragile, and needs to be cared for.”

The change in marriage law has “shut down dialogue, and put us in corners like boxers in a ring. It pits the teacher against the parent, and forces children to take sides. It seems to be about winning even if the child loses,” she said.

“We’re not made for solitary confinement,” said professor Helen Alvare. The dynamic harmony of the family, to desire the good for another, cannot be manufactured or legislated and is undermined by treating people as just a body, a sexual object. No other institution cares for the vulnerable like family, she observed.

Professor David Crawford tied identity to family, and family as a buffer against totalitarianism. Some say community and individual rights are in tension, he noted. “But we are communal beings, and the family is the natural community.” The family wards against men and women being reduced to creatures of the state.

Ambassadors then took turns describing their countries’ high view of the family. The developing countries Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Malaysia, Sudan, Iran and Tajikistan highlighted the “cherished” role of the family—and said the UN should foster respect for it.

Russia encouraged countries to monitor UN officials and agencies from encroaching on the rights of the family, and cautioned that agencies in Geneva, the headquarters on human rights, humanitarian aid and refugees, need particular watching.

Austin Ruse of C-Fam singled out countries in the room for their actions in past UN negotiations to protect the family from the sexual revolution. He also announced a new coalition, the Civil Society for the Family, to encourage countries to defend the family.

“It is an honor to be among brave people standing up for things that unite us all, that is, the natural family,” he said.

Oklahoma Passes Bill to Suspend Medical Licenses of Any Doctor Who Does Abortions

A bill headed to Oklahoma Gov. Mary Fallin’s desk this week would strip abortionists of their medical licenses and basically ban abortions in the state.

The bill describes an abortion as “unprofessional conduct” and prohibits Oklahoma medical licensure officials from renewing or granting licenses to doctors who do abortions, except to save the mother’s life . . . Any doctor who performs an abortion in Oklahoma could be charged with a felony and punished with up to three years in prison under a bill that the Legislature passed Thursday.

With no discussion or debate, the Senate voted 33-12 Thursday for the bill by Republican Sen. Nathan Dahm. A handful of Republicans joined with Democrats in voting against the bill, which now heads to Gov. Mary Fallin, an anti-abortion Republican. Fallin spokesman Michael McNutt said the governor will withhold comment until her staff has time to review it.

“Since I believe life begins at conception, it should be protected, and I believe it’s a core function of state government to defend that life from the beginning of conception,” said Dahm, R-Broken Arrow. . . . Read More

Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz CEOs Donate Thousands to Hillary Clinton

The longstanding relationship between Hillary Clinton and the nation’s largest abortion business is well-documented. Planned Parenthood made Clinton its first-ever endorsement of a presidential candidate and Clinton, in unsecured emails found on her controversial in-home email server, specifically requested to hang out with her “friends” at the abortion company.

Now, pro-life attorney Kristi Burton Brown has documented how the CEOs of local Planned Parenthood affiliates are extensively donating to Clinton’s presidential campaign . . .

In March 2009, Hillary Clinton received Planned Parenthood’s Margaret Sanger award at an event in Houston. During the event, Clinton said that emphasizing and promoting abortion is a key issue in President Barack Obama’s foreign policy. She also defended taxpayer funded abortions for poor women.

During this election, Hillary has slammed a new law in Indiana banning abortions on babies with Down syndrome.

During an interview on The View recently Hillary Clinton said an unborn child just hours before delivery should have no Constitutional rights. . . . Read More

DOA: 12 States Reject Obama’s Transgender Bathroom Policy

by Ben Johnson: Despite the power of the bully pulpit, and the pull of billions of dollars in federal education funding, leaders in at least a dozen states have said Barack Obama's guidance on transgender bathroom, shower, and locker room use is unconstitutional, with many saying the decree will not be implemented, come what may.

Governors, attorneys general, and school officials – not to mention incensed parents – say the federal document released last Friday is a vast overreach of the president's powers and places young children at risk.

Upon release of the long-rumored document last week, multiple governors declared the decree dead on arrival.  ...

Obama's policy is “an invitation for violations of privacy and personal safety,” said North Carolina Lt. Gov. Dan Forest.

“North Carolina will not stand by and let our locker rooms and high school showers be used for social experimentation at the expense of the privacy and protection of our young boys and girl,” he continued. “I don't think it appropriate for teenage boys and girls to shower next to each other...I feel confident, the vast majority of North Carolina parents feel the same.” . . .

Texas Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick said his state would give up federal education funding before changing its policy, although that would deprive the students of an estimated $10 billion, much of it in the free breakfast and lunch program.

Their calls to defy the president's innovative interpretation of a 1972 civil rights law - Title IX, which does not mention gender identity - echoed throughout the country.

“Mississippi's public schools should not participate in the president's social experiment,” said Gov. Phil Bryant, because “these decisions are better left to the states, and not made at the point of a federal bayonet.”

Mississippi Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves agreed that "state and local communities should not be forced to push a liberal agenda by a president out of touch with the American people."

Gov. Bryant recently signed H.B. 1523, which explicitly allows people to set their own policies on “access to restrooms, spas, baths, showers, dressing rooms, locker rooms, or other intimate facilities” without fear of government reprisal.

Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin said public schools in the Bluegrass State “should not feel compelled to bow to such intimidation.”

Utah Gov. Gary Herbert said, “Schools are the domain of state and local government, not our nation’s president. Unfortunately, this is exactly what I have come to expect from the Obama administration. If we have to fight this order, we will not hesitate to do so." His Board of Education Chair, David Crandall, has advised school districts not to implement any policy changes in lieu of a more concrete court order or binding legislation.

And Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson tweeted: As Gov., I recommend that school districts disregard @POTUS's “guidance” on gender identification in schools. ...

Alabama state Attorney General Luther Strange, a Republican, vowed, "If the Obama administration tries to enforce this absurd edict, I will work with other Attorneys General to challenge it.”

One such state AG, Scott Pruitt of Oklahoma, wrote a letter to the Obama administration Friday afternoon shortly after the guidelines became public, saying he would “vigorously defend the state's” commonsense solution.

In Louisiana, 32 of the state's 105 state representatives sent a letter asking the attorney general to clarify the administration's guidelines, as well as an executive action by Democratic Gov. John Bel Edwards on transgender issues.

Other states are fighting the administrative regulation that anyone who says he identifies as a member of the opposite sex must be treated accordingly. After the Obama administration released its letter the states of Arizona, Kansas, Maine, Nebraska, Utah, and West Virginia signed on to defend a rural Virginia school district the administration had sued over the issue. . . . South Carolina Legislature Passes Bill to Ban Abortions After 19 Weeks When Babies Feel Pain

The South Carolina legislature has approved a bill that would protect unborn babies from painful, late-term abortions.

On March 8, the South Carolina Senate passed the bill known as Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act by a strong majority, LifeNews reported. The state House, which is controlled by Republicans, approved the bill today. . .

South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley is getting her pen ready to sign the bill into law. The pro-life governor told the Associated Press earlier this year that she almost certainly will sign the bill, which would ban abortions at 20 weeks when evidence shows that unborn babies can feel pain. . . . ACLU Trying to Shut Down Catholic Hospitals Because They Refuse to Do Abortions

The ACLU has been losing in court time after time as it attempts to force Catholic hospitals to violate their religious beliefs and abort unborn babies. Now it’s trying to win in the court of public opinion.

In a new report titled “Health Care Denied,” the ACLU attacks Catholic hospitals that do not perform abortions and other medical procedures that violate their faith, the Baptist Press reports. The publication highlights how many hospitals in the U.S. are Catholic (1 in 6), and then accuses them of jeopardizing women’s lives because they do not do abortions, sterilizations and other “reproductive health” procedures. . . . Little Sisters Win: Supreme Court Tells Lower Courts to Protect Them From HHS Mandate

Greater Fitchburg for Life Editor: Let's Pray it's True and not another potential deception for the future! The Supreme Court could have settled the issue once and for posterity sake in the USA.
---------------
The Supreme Court issued a unanimous opinion today in the case involving the Little Sisters of the Poor, which have been fighting to not be forced to pay for abortion-causing drugs for their employees.

The Little Sisters of the Poor are asking the nation’s highest court to ensure they do not have to comply with Obamacare’s abortion mandate. The mandate compels religious groups to pay for birth control and drugs that may cause abortions.

Without relief, the Little Sisters would face millions of dollars in IRS fines because they cannot comply with the government’s mandate that they give their employees free access to contraception, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs. Today’s decision removes all of those threats of possible fines.

“The Court’s decision is a win for the Little Sisters and other groups who needed relief from draconian government fines,” the Becket Fund, the Little Sisters’ attorneys, told LifeNews.

“We are very encouraged by the Court’s decision, which is an important win for the Little Sisters. The Court has recognized that the government changed its position,” said Mark Rienzi, senior counsel at the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty and lead Becket attorney for the Little Sisters of the Poor. “It is crucial that the Justices unanimously ordered the government not to impose these fines and indicated that the government doesn’t need any notice to figure out what should now be obvious—the Little Sisters respectfully object. There is still work to be done, but today’s decision indicates that we will ultimately prevail in court.”

Previously, the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily protected the Little Sisters from the mandate. The Little Sisters then went before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals in Denver to extend that protection, but a panel of the appeals court ruled against them. Eventually the full appeals court ruled in its favor but the Obama administration appealed.

In a surprise move Monday, the Supreme Court punted on the case and, in a unanimous ruling, essentially told the lower courts to find a way to accommodate the Little Sisters so their conscience rights would not be violated. The Supreme Court sent the case back to lower courts to examine an alternative accommodation to the mandate. ... Read More

Obama Administration Forces Doctors and Hospitals Getting Federal Funds to Do Abortions

The Obama Administration looks like it’s on a mission to trample religious and conscience protections and force as many people as it can to promote and pay for abortions.

Breitbart reports the pro-abortion administration issued a new nondiscrimination policy in the name of “equity” on Friday that pressures doctors and hospitals to promote and perform abortions. Those that don’t would not be eligible for federal funds including Medicare and Medicaid, according to the report.

The “Final Rule” on Obamacare Section 1557 came from the Department of Health and Human Services on Friday, and it largely had to do with discrimination and “gender identity.” While the rule summary does not mention abortion specifically, it explains that the rule “requires that women be treated equally with men in the health care they receive and also prohibits the denial of health care or health coverage based on an individual’s sex, including discrimination based on pregnancy, gender identity and sex stereotyping.”

David Christensen, vice president of government affairs for the Family Research Council, told Breitbart that the new rule mandates that federally funded health care providers offer abortion, among other services. Read More

Big Abortion’s Latest Attack on Pregnancy Centers is Questioning Success Rates

by Jor-El Godsey: Remember that time when a news outlet funded by Big Abortion did real investigation and cited credible statistics?

I don’t either.

Our “friends” at RH Reality Check – RH standing for “Reproductive Health,” a euphemism for all things abortion – have recently rebranded themselves as “Rewire” to create an atmosphere of legitimacy for their biased advocacy for abortion, and related ideologies.

Their championing of abortion has, in recent years, included an assault on pregnancy centers.

Their latest offering questions the credibility of the successes reported by pregnancy help centers. In fact, the headline asserts their premise: Crisis Pregnancy Centers Are Pretty Bad at Dissuading People Seeking Abortion. Given Rewire’s ideology, the headline would accurately describe their perspective if shortened to “CPCs are pretty bad.”

In the article, which you can read here, they use seeming discrepancies in published statistics, and then reflect the smallest, most narrowly-defined, partial statistic of only definitively known outcomes – as the measure of our “success.” . . . [Read More]

Obama Admin. Forces Transgender Bathrooms, Locker Rooms, On Schools As Condition Of Funding

Ben Johnson, LifeSite News: The Obama administration has issued a “guidance” to all public schools telling them to allow students of either biological sex to use the showers, locker rooms, and restrooms – and stay in the same hotel rooms during field trips – designated for the opposite sex or risk losing federal funding.

A joint letter from the Departments of Education and Justice, released Friday morning, states that students who identify as "transgender" must be allowed to use the private facilities that match their gender identity.

The letter clarified that schools should not require a “medical diagnosis or treatment” before accepting a student's transgender self-identification. The moment a child's parent or guardian says the child identifies as a member of the opposite sex, the school must recognize that and act accordingly “as a condition of receiving federal funds,” the eight-page letter says. . . . United Nations Pressures Ireland to Legalize Abortion and Stop Protecting Unborn Children

Pro-life nations are under intense international pressure to stop protecting unborn babies and legalize abortion. On Wednesday, pro-abortion countries at the United Nations pushed Ireland to legalize abortion on demand, according to the Irish Times.

At least 14 countries represented at the UN meeting demanded to know why Ireland has not legalized abortion yet, according to the report. Currently, abortion is illegal in Ireland except when the mother’s life is in danger.

Here is more from the Irish Times:

While six states – including Germany, the Netherlands and Sweden – had lodged advance questions on access to abortion services, the issue was raised by many more states at the session in Geneva, including Canada, France, the U.S., Lithuania, Macedonia, Switzerland, the Republic of Korea and Iceland.

Slovenia recommended Ireland “decriminalise abortion in all circumstances and, as a minimum, ensure access to safe abortion also in cases of rape, incest, serious risk to the health of the mother or fatal foetal abnormality”.

[Irish Minister for Justice Frances] Fitzgerald, who arrived about two hours into the three-and-a-half-hour session – having been delayed by Government business in Dublin – described abortion as a “live issue” in Ireland and one where “respect” for all views was necessary. . . . Read More

House Speaker Paul Ryan met with Donald Trump today and said he cam away encouraged with the presumptive Republican presidential candidate’s views about pro-life issues, and specifically the Supreme Court. Donald Trump: “I Will Appoint Supreme Court Judges Who Will be Pro-Life”

When it comes to abortion, for pro-life voters there is no more important issue in the presidential election than who will control the appointment process for one or more Supreme Court judges who will determine the fate of abortion for decades. And on that point, Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee, told Bill O’Reilly he would name pro-life judges to the highest court.

Asked what he would do to protect the “sanctity of human life,” Trump said it starts with the Supreme Court.

“I will protect it and the biggest way to protect it is through the Supreme Court and putting people in the court — and actually the biggest way to protect is electing me as president,” he said.

Trump went on to say that he favored overturning Roe v. Wade and that, “I will appoint Supreme Court judges who will be pro-life.” . . . Read More
