Conference of Mayors Votes to Support Abortion

Nancy Flanders, Life News:The United States Conference of Mayors thinks it's doing women a favor with the group's recent resolution to combat the supposed war on women. All they are doing is reiterating the same broken points that the rest of pro-abortion America shouts from the rooftops every chance it gets. Perhaps they think if they say it enough, eventually it will be true. Unfortunately, the one truth about abortion that stands the test of time is that it is the outright murder of one innocent human because one other human deemed that life unwanted, problematic, or unworthy. But the mayors don't see that. [Full Story]

Pro-Life News, June 22, 2012

Just 33% Back Pro-Abortion Obamacare as Supreme Court Decides With the Supreme Court expected to issue its landmark ruling in the Obamacare case next week, polling data reveals just one-third of Americans support the controversial health care law. “The Supreme Court is likely to release its landmark decision on the constitutionality of the 2010 Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act within the next week. Americans show at best mixed support for the law and widely view the individual mandate that requires Americans to have health insurance as unconstitutional,” a new Gallup analysis indicates. “Although President Obama and his supporters predicted that Americans would become more positive about the law after it passed and they had time to better understand it, that has not been the case. Americans appear as negative or more negative now than they were when the PPACA was first passed.”

Melinda Gates to Host Event With Top Pro-Abortion Groups Melinda Gates, the wife of billionaire Microsoft founder Bill Gates, will be hosting a Family Planning Summit in London with two of the biggest pro-abortion groups in the world, the UN Population Fund and International Planned Parenthood Federation. Austin Ruse, the president of C-FAM, a pro-life group that works to press cause at the United Nations, has more information on what’s in store. “They say they want to raise $4 billion to promote contraception among poor women. This is population control plain and simple, population control aimed at poor dark-skinned women,” he said. “We have tried to get pro-lifers registered for this summit so there can be a counter voice but we are getting shut out by Planned Parenthood.”

Huge Abortion Rate Decline Shows Pro-Life Progress The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a report this week which analyzes trends in pregnancy rates, birth rates, and abortion rates since 1990. Both the CDC and the Guttmacher Institute frequently release data on the incidence of abortion. However, this report is unique because it presents the trends by race, age, and marital status. Overall, the news is good. The national abortion rate is falling fairly steadily and has declined by over 29 percent since 1990. Additionally, there has been a decline in the incidence of abortion among nearly all demographic groups.

WHO Releases Abortion How-To Guide: Best Methods for Killing Babies The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a second edition of “Safe abortion: technical and policy guidance for health systems.” This document is updated from the original 2003 publication and runs 134 pages; it can be found here. The new document details various methods of killing unborn children and the very best way, as recommended by WHO, to kill them. “It is a horrific read,” stated Scott Fischbach, Executive Director of MCCL Global Outreach. “Following these guidelines will assuredly kill women and their unborn children, especially in developing nations. Some of the recommendations, WHO admits, are based on ‘low to moderate scientific evidence.’ They are truly reckless ad deadly.”

Pro-Abortion Movement Finds Ultrasound Images Threatening The pro-abortion movement finds itself once again between a rock and a hard place as technology advancements shed greater light on the humanity of the unborn child. From the advent of 4-D ultrasounds to Facebook allowing parents to list their unborn child as a family member on their profiles, technology has only aided the pro-life cause. The latest trend to give voice to the voiceless child in the womb is the Photoshopping of sonogram images onto a picture of the mother’s belly.

Komen Sees Huge Drop in Support After Planned Parenthood Funding Komen affiliates are seeing huge drops in support — in terms of the number of walkers participating in events and the amount of donations coming in — following its decision to re-establish funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business. In Missouri, KMOX reports that one of the largest Komen walks in the country, in St. Louis, saw almost half the number of walkers this time as it did the year prior.

Former Abortion Worker: My Hands Were an Accessory to Murder. As a pre-abortion counselor, I occasionally had a pregnant mother ask me to come visit her in the recovery room once it was all over. Naturally, whoever accompanied her to the abortion clinic that day was not permitted in any of the medical areas, so requests like this were not uncommon. Some of the weepier women (who were scheduled to be awake with local anesthetic for their abortions) would ask if I could join them in the procedure room to hold their hands during their abortions. I would attempt to deflect this question by reminding them that a nurse would be there to hold their hands, but a few would persist in asking if I could be there to hold their hands. More than a few times, I agreed.

Catholic Bishops Issue Liberty Prayer Responding to HHS Mandate With the Fortnight for Freedom beginning today, the nation’s Catholic bishops have released a new prayer calling for greater respect and appreciation of religious liberty — which they say the Obama administration has abrogated with its HHS mandate. The mandate has caused massive controversy within pro-life and religious circles by forcing Catholic and evangelical groups and businesses to pay for abortion-causing drugs and birth control for their employees. The full Prayer for the Protection of Liberty the bishops released reads.

Soros-Funded Group Attacking Bishops on Conscience Rights With the nation’s Catholic bishops launching a new campaign today, the Fortnight of Freedom, to draw attention to the ways in which the Obama administration is violating religious liberty and conscience issues, the bishops are finding themselves under attack. A leaked email from a liberal, George Soros-funded “Catholic” group called Faith in Public Life, is working behind the scenes to attack the bishops and try to get media outlets to run negative stories about the campaign. Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, released a copy of the email he received, that is addressed to top reporters and news outlet editors. The email contains proposed questions media outlets could ask the bishops such as “Are you willing to sacrifice Catholic charities, colleges and hospitals if you don’t get your way on the contraceptive mandate?” and “Are you willing to drop all health insurance for your employees?”

Skeptical Pro-Lifers: It’s Time to Embrace Mitt Romney Pro-life advocates love a good conversion story. And in recent years they have cheered as a long list of politicians, celebrities, and former abortion facility workers have embraced the pro-life cause. But there’s one man whose pro-life transformation many abortion opponents seem unwilling to accept: Mitt Romney. The former Massachusetts governor and likely Republican presidential nominee followed a well-worn path from abortion advocacy to science-inspired pro-life awakening. But some pro-life candidates and commentators have remained skeptical about the authenticity of Romney’s conversion. It’s no secret that Romney was once an emphatic supporter of abortion rights. Running for US Senate in Massachusetts in 1994, Romney declared that he was a “committed” pro-choice advocate, adding, “And you will not see me wavering on that.”

Evangelicals, Protestants Should Join the Fortnight for Freedom This August, the HHS regulations that require religious non-profits to provide contraception, abortifacients and sterilization to their employees are scheduled to go into effect. Since the proposed regulations were announced in February, HHS and its supporters have tried to depict opposition to the regulations as merely a Catholic concern. The issue, they would have us believe, is the Catholic Church’s position on artificial birth control, not the abridgment of religious freedom. Chuck Colson worked tirelessly to refute this nonsense. In the last few months of his life, he pointed out that the HHS regulations were part of a larger pattern. They were an example of what the Manhattan Declaration calls the “[trampling] upon the freedom…to express [one’s] religious and moral commitments to the sanctity of life and to the dignity of marriage.”

Get Involved in the Fortnight for Freedom to Defend Conscience In “Our First, Most Cherished Liberty,” the bishops called for a “Fortnight for Freedom,” a 14-day period of prayer, penance, education and action in defense of religious freedom from June 21st through the Fourth of July. The Fortnight is packed with liturgical and civic significance. It starts on the vigil of the feast of St. John Fisher and St. Thomas More, martyrs who remained faithful to their conscience despite persecution by political power. Archbishop William Lori, chair of the bishops’ Ad Hoc Committee on Religious Liberty, will open the Fortnight with Mass in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, the first diocese established in the United States.

Planned Parenthood Gives Up Building New Michigan Abortion Biz The Planned Parenthood abortion business has given up on its bid to build a new abortion facility in Auburn Hills, Michigan, outside of Detroit. The decision comes even as a Michigan court, in January, allowed a local Planned Parenthood to build a new abortion business in the Detroit area despite a restriction on the deed Planned Parenthood obtained for a building prohibiting an abortion clinic. The restriction was put in place by the owners of the Comfort Inn Hotel located behind the building Planned Parenthood purchased several years ago. In October 2010, attorneys for the abortion business tried to get the owners of the Comfort Inn to agree the building could be used as a “medical office” without mentioning that abortions would be done at the facility. Comfort Inn’s owners balked and Planned Parenthood sued in court.

Republican Women Knocked for Opposing Sex-Selection Abortion Ban Two Republican members of the U.S. House are under fire today from pro-life groups for voting recently against the ban on sex-selection abortions despite previous pro-life votes they had cast on abortion issues.

Poll: Young Voters Oppose Obama Abortion Record, HHS Mandate Students for Life of America commissioned a new poll of young voters that finds they do not like the pro-abortion record of President Barack Obama and also don’t favor his HHS mandate that forces religious groups to pay for abortion-causing drugs and birth control.

Obama’s Backwards Approach: Protect the State From the Church
The views about faith and religion that President Obama expressed in his Commencement Address at Notre Dame pave the way for his HHS mandate. He would protect the state from the church, not by privatizing faith, but by redefining it.

Research to Focus on Allowing Unconscious Patients to Communicate Patients diagnosed as persistently unconscious may be the most scorned people on earth. I mean, who else could be called a turnip or carrot with impunity? It is within the context of this “unrepentent bigotry” that I analyze a hopeful story about increasing efforts to find the consciousness within the diagnosed unconscious.

Abortion Doc Stripped of Medical License in Kansas A Kansas-based abortion practitioner was stripped of her medical license after state officials learned that she had been violating Kansas abortion law when working with late-term abortion practitioner George Tiller.

Personhood Amendment Backers Target Pro-Life Candidates The pro-life movement includes people and organizations working in a variety of ways to protect women and unborn children and to find the most effective and fastest solution to ending abortion. However, it appears one element of the pro-life community is targeting another for disagree with its strategy.

Massachusetts: Choose Life Plates May Be Run Off the Road Pro-life groups in Massachusetts worked hard to get the ability to have Choose Life license plates for pro-life motorists to purchase for their vehicles. Now, they may be in danger of having proceeds taken away if pro-life drivers don’t purchase more soon.

NARAL: Fortnight for Freedom Event Like Making Women Wear Corsets The nation’s Catholic bishops are spearheading an effort, with the support of pro-life advocates and leaders of other faiths, to stand up for conscience rights and religious freedoms. But NARAL suggests the event is another battle in the so-called War on Women.

lanned Parenthood Annoys Supporters With Unsolicited Telemarketing Calls I know I’m not the only pro-lifer who glances at Planned Parenthood’s Facebook page now and then. In the last week or so, a noticeable pattern has emerged on the page: supporters complaining about unsolicited phone calls from the abortion giant. Not just unsolicited, but “pushy” and “rude” phone calls.

Pro-Life News, June 20, 2012

New Video: Planned Parenthood OKs Sex-Selection Abortion Again Yet another new undercover video in an investigation of abortion clinics across the country has a Planned Parenthood abortion facility and another abortion clinic affiliated with the National Abortion Federation arranging sex-selection abortions. Today, Live Action released new undercover footage showing the NAF clinic in Raleigh and a Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in Chapel Hill advising women on how best to procure a sex-selective abortion of their baby girls because they want a boy instead. The Live Action project has now shown eight abortion centers in five different states willing to facilitate sex-selection abortions for pretend clients seeking them.
In the new video, an abortion counselor “A Woman’s Choice of Raleigh, Inc,” the NAF-affiliated clinic, refers a woman purportedly seeking a sex-selective abortion to an OB/GYN to confirm the gender of the baby with a diagnostic ultrasound. The counselor, “Jessica,” assures that the abortion clinic will not have a conflict with performing a sex-selective procedure: “Your reasons are your reasons,” she says, “You know, it’s totally fine.”

Abortion Proponents Admit Defeat at Rio UN Conference In an astounding show of solidarity, a diverse group of countries rallied together with the Holy See to successfully remove any mention of reproductive rights or population control from the final outcome document produced during the last round of UN negotiations at the Rio +20 conference this week. For the past six months, the UN Population Fund (UNFPA) along with Norway and Iceland, and Catholics for Choice and the International Planned Parenthood Federation, have worked feverishly to take advantage of the Rio +20 conference on sustainable development in order to promote both an international right to abortion and population control.

Fortnight for Freedom Campaign Against HHS Mandate Starts Thursday The Fortnight for Freedom campaign the nation’s Catholic bishops started against the Obama HHS mandate, which forces religious groups to pay for abortions and birth control drugs for their employees, begins Thursday. The United States Catholic bishops are readying American Catholics for what may be the largest campaign of civil disobedience since the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960’s. In addition to 12 lawsuits against the Obama Administration including 46 plaintiffs from dioceses, hospitals and universities, the US Catholic bishops are urging Catholics to openly defy the Obama HHS Mandate.

A Woman’s Amazing Story: “I Survived A Back-Alley Abortion” “I survived an abortion,” the woman standing in front of me said, looking at my sign. I am one of the summer interns for the Canadian Centre for Bio-Ethical Reform, and for the last two weeks we have been travelling across the country on The New Abortion Caravan. Dozens of people have given us amazing testimonies, dozens have turned pro-life, but I had never heard this story before. I was doing “Choice” Chain, a project where we stand with signs of aborted pre-born babies as well as pre-born babies in utero outside the Portage Mall in Winnipeg. When a woman in her mid-forties walked by, I asked her what she thought about abortion. She stopped, looked at my sign, looked up at me and said, “You don’t want to hear what I have to say.”

House Panel Approves Bill Banning D.C. Abortion Funding House Republicans and Senate Democrats will argue again over whether or not to ban taxpayer funding of abortions in the District of Columbia and the first skirmish in that battle was completed today. Last week, Senate Democrats approved an amendment in their version of the funding bill that would allow taxpayer funded abortions in D.C. House Republicans on the House Appropriations Committee approved the fiscal year 2013 Financial Services spending plan for the nation’s capital district and they rebuffed efforts from pro-abortion Democrats to strip the funding ban from the bill.

Report Shows Abortion Rate Has Dropped 25% Since 1990
A new report released today from the National Center for Health Statistics reveals the abortion rate in the United States has dropped 25 percent since 1990, showing the pro-life movement is making progress in stopping abortions and the abortion rate decline for married women is even higher. In 2008, the agency said an estimated 6,578,000 pregnancies resulted in 4,248,000 live births, 1,212,000 induced abortions, and 1,118,000 fetal losses, or miscarriages. That means about 18 percent of pregnancies ended in abortion in 2008 — a drop from the 1990 figures, when 24 percent of pregnancies ended in abortion.

School Uses Planned Parenthood Curriculum to Teach Kids Oral Sex Parents could tell something was wrong with the children when they came home from school. They were quiet and withdrawn, embarrassed, and didn’t want to talk about what had happened. When Curtis and Jean Pannkuk began questioning their young daughter, they discovered that her elementary school principal had instructed her that day in how to perform oral and anal sex. The traumatizing instruction was delivered as a part of state approved sex education that was orchestrated, developed, pushed, and policed by Planned Parenthood, NARAL Pro-Choice Washington, SIECUS, and a host of other agencies. Though parents in the small town of Onalaska, Washington, are furious that their children have been violated and traumatized by the highly inappropriate sex instruction, the superintendent defended the principal’s delivery of graphic instruction in aberrant sex to the elementary school students, telling local media, “I think the principal handled it appropriately at the time; she only gave factual information, no demonstrations.” In another interview, he indicated that she “stuck to the curriculum.”

Romney Says Rubio Getting Vetted for Potential VP Selection ABC News is reporting this morning that pro-life Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a rising star in the Republican Party, is not being vetted for a spot on the ticket with eventual GOP nominee Mitt Romney. When it comes to the selection of a vice-presidential running mate, speculation abounds and reports that certain potential picks are or are not being considered sometimes must be taken with a grain of salt. That said, ABC News’ Jonathan Karl says, ” knowledgeable Republican sources tell me that Rubio is not being vetted by Mitt Romney’s vice presidential search team. He has not been asked to complete any questionnaires or been asked to turn over any financial documents typically required of potential vice presidential candidates.” UPDATE: Later Tuesday, Romney denied the report and said Rubio is under consideration. “The story was entirely false, Marco Rubio is being thoroughly vetted as part of our process,” Romney told reporters.

Romney’s Conversion on Abortion—Is it Authentic? The conversion of a political candidate prior to an election is naturally met with questions and even skepticism. Mitt Romney has been no exception. It has led even the casual observer to say, “Is this authentic?” To fully understand why this can be true, we must first review some history. Pro-life conversions have happened in the past at the highest levels of politics. Central to this was President H. W. Bush. As a vice presidential candidate, George Bush changed his position from pro-abortion to pro-life after a lengthy meeting with me.

New Program Funds Attorneys for Chinese Forced Abortion Victims Following reports that alarmed the world about a woman victimized by an abortion at the seventh month of pregnancy, a human rights group that has been focusing on helping such victims has launched a new program. A forced abortion case exposed by the website 6-4 Tianwang, which posted a post-abortion photo of the mother lying on a hospital bed with the body of her seven-month-old unborn baby next to her, has triggered a chain of angry protests from around the world.

New Poll: HHS Mandate Hurts Obama With Women, Catholics On the last day for pro-life advocates to officially make their case to the Obama administration to rescind its proposed mandate requiring religious groups to pay for birth control and abortion-causing drugs, a new poll shows strong opposition. The Catholic Association commissioned the Washington-based polling firm QEV Analytics to survey Americans to determine whether the Obama administration’s approach with the HHS mandate, requiring employee healthcare coverage of contraception, sterilization, and abortifacient drugs, is helping his electoral chances, especially with Catholics and women.

American Activist Meets Chen Guangcheng After Helping From Afar Reggie Littlejohn had never met Chen Guangcheng, but she quickly became one of the foremost supporters and advocates for him after he underwent imprisonment and house arrest for exposing forced abortion campaigns. Littlejohn communicated the best she could with Chen’s allies in China, relying on the Internet and underground messages from supporters of the human rights campaigner to speak with his friends and provide them details of the initiatives she was taking in the United States and around the world to draw attention to his plight.

“Vagina” Politics: Perpetuating the War on Women Myth In a display of sheer desperation, abortion advocates are attempting to divert attention away from the actual content of Michigan’s pro-life omnibus bill. The bill contains consensus provisions like tougher abortion center regulations, a ban on coerced abortions, a ban on webcam abortions and a ban on late abortions after 20 weeks when the unborn child is capable of experiencing pain. While speaking on the House floor, pro-abortion Rep. Lisa Brown (D) compared the legislation to rape. The following day, Brown was denied speaking privileges on the floor after Republican leadership alleged her comparison violated House decorum. Brown purports that she was silenced because of her use of the word “vagina.”

Abortion Docs Feeding Girl Babies to Dogs Charged With Homicide Two abortion practitioners who fed the bodies of girl babies killed in abortions to dogs to hide the sex-selection abortions they were performing have been charged with homicide. The charges are in connection with a legal abortion they performed that resulted in a woman’s death. Beed, India is the location of an abortion clinic that was responsible for killing a woman in a failed abortion. The husband and wife doctor team who run the medical clinic where she obtained the abortion now face criminal charges. The Times of India reports on their apprehension andthe charges: The Parli magistrate court on Monday sent the doctor couple, accused of conducting illegal abortions, to police custody till June 30.

Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz Closes Two Centers in Iowa Planned Parenthood of the Heartland, the Iowa affiliate of the nation’s biggest abortion business, has announced it is closing two of its abortion referral clinics — the Newton clinic and the Family Practice Center in Des Moines. These centers, which refer women for abortions, will be closed effective July 19 and they follow Planned Parenthood of the Heartland closing the doors in March on their abortion centers in Storm Lake and Knoxville, Iowa.

Ending Abortion is the Final Civil Rights Frontier For thirty-nine years, Americans have been dealing with the repercussions of Roe v. Wade, where the Supreme Court legalized abortion on the basis that the unborn are not people. Sometimes it may seem like the pro-life movement is progressing, and other times it seems as if the courts or other government entities are taking the pro-life movement back several steps.

Should Pro-Life Voters Always Vote for the Most Pro-Life Candidate? In this video, I facilitate a discussion with Life Training Institute’s Scott Klusendorf and Right to Life of Central California’s Jonathan Keller on pro-life voting principles. Should pro-lifers ALWAYS vote for the pro-life candidate.

New Jersey Democrats Seek to Restore Planned Parenthood Funding Despite the fact that pro-life New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has vetoed taxpayer funding for the Planned Parenthood abortion business twice, Democrats in the state legislature are pushing to fund it again.

Connecticut Uses Obamacare to Expand Abortion Funding As the controversy over President Obama’s birth control mandate continues to rage at the national level, lawmakers in Connecticut are making news with their recent determination that elective abortion is an “essential health benefit” and must therefore be covered under all insurance plans developed according to the new guidelines established by Obamacare.

The Desperation of the Labels “Pro-Choice” and “Anti-Choice” Of all the mischaracterizations and stereotypes of the pro-life movement, I think the most desperate is that we are a small movement of grumpy men who hate women (probably because we were too dumb to attract them in the first place) and just want to enforce our judgmental and narrow-minded views on people to control them.

Swiss Voters Approve Assisted Suicides in Nursing Homes
Switzerland, which already permits suicide purveyors to make a lot of money out of suicide tourism, is now bringing self termination into nursing homes and hospitals. From the Swiss Info story.

Pro-Obama Blue States Have Higher Abortion Rates Than Red States Last week on The Atlantic’s Cities website, there was an interesting analysis by Richard Florida on the geography of abortion. Florida obtains state-level abortion data from both the Centers for Disease Control and the Alan Guttmacher Institute and examines how well a range of political, demographic, and economic variables correlate with state abortion rates.

Is the Methodist Church Violating Its Tax Status Pushing Abortion? It started when I wrote the article on the United Methodist Church (UMC) and the Religious Coalition for Reproductive Choice (RCRC), the pro-abortion rights group. I became curious about the UMC General Board of Church and Society that is directly affiliated with the RCRC, so I went hunting for their tax forms, wondering where they put their money, as I often do when I research abortion ties. But what I found surprised me. Almost every non profit’s 990 tax forms are publicly available because they are public record; however, the UMC’s political arm was not—because it was a church.

Pro-Abortion Lawmaker Performs Pornographic Play at State Capitol When pro-abortion politicians fail to protect women, by supporting the most destructive medical act and human rights violation of present day, they have to rely upon the art of distraction. And they’re good at it.

Pro-Life News, June 15, 2012

Canada’s Assisted Suicide Ban Struck Down in Court The British Columbia Supreme Court has issued an opinion declaring the law in Canada against assisted suicides unconstitutional. Justice Lynn Smith issued a 395-page ruling Friday calling the law discriminatory in the case of Gloria Taylor, a British Columbia woman with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. Taylor was one of five plaintiff’s seeking to strike the law and Judge Smith agree with her saying that, because suicide itself is not illegal, assisted suicides should not be illegal either. Judge Smith said the law contravenes Section 15 of the Charter, which guarantees equality, because it denies the ability to disabled people to kill themselves in the same way an able-bodied person could.

Mitt Romney Wins Endorsement From Ohio Pro-Life Group The Ohio Right to Life Society and Political Action Committee has announced its endorsements concerning Ohio’s pro-life federal and state candidates for the November 6th general election. At the top of the list is an endorsement for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who is taking on pro-abortion President Barack Obama. “This election is the doorway into what could be the most pivotal period in our nation’s history,” said Mike Gonidakis on behalf of the Ohio Right to Life PAC. “We personally urge every pro-life Ohioan to support these pro-life men and women, and trust them to lead our state and nation to a greater respect for life and religious freedom.”

Catholic Health Association Enabled Obamacare, Now Opposes Mandate The Catholic Health Association came under heavy criticism during the debate leading up tot he passage of Obamacare by signing off on the controversial legislation and taking a contrary position to pro-life groups the nation’s Catholic bishops by erroneously claiming it would not lead to abortion funding. Now, the Catholic Health Association has publicly come out in opposition to the revised HHS mandate the Obama administration put in place that will require religious groups to pay for birth control and abortion-causing drugs in their employees’ health plans. The group said today that it disagrees with the Obama administration’s requirement on religious groups making them provide birth control and abortion-causing drugs as a free preventive service.

Sex-Selection Abortion Ban Opposition Shows Obama’s Extremism You would think that any piece of legislation that wins a 246-168 majority of the votes of the House of Representatives would be on a fast track to become law. Passing pro-life legislation though, whether it be the earlier ban on partial-birth abortion, or the Prenatal Non-Discrimination Act (PreNDA)–a bill to make it unlawful to perform or coerce a sex-selection abortion–is never easy. Like a complicated dance step, it often requires one step back, before taking two steps forward. First, the one step back: Under the fast-track procedure utilized by the House majority, a two-thirds majority was required for passage of PreNDA. Although the legislation was supported by a strong majority, the actual vote fell short of the two-thirds required.

Because of Abortion, Not All Dads Can Celebrate Father’s Day As a father and now grandfather, I have entered an era of my life that’s blessed me with a profound respect for the significance of Father’s Day. And with over 37 years in the pro-life movement, I also hold a deep reverence for the millions of children lost and the men who were unable or unwilling to embrace fatherhood. As incomprehensible at it seems, since Roe v. Wade the United States has literally exterminated a generation, one by one, through the horrendous act of abortion. It’s hard not to reflect on how many lives—children, women and men—have been devastated as a result.

Former Employees Expose Planned Parenthood’s Medicaid Fraud Planned Parenthood’s mentality that abortion trumps all, including the law, has once again been exposed for the world to see. Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood clinic director turned pro-life advocate, details just how far she witnessed Planned Parenthood was willing to go to enrich its abortion empire – what she contends was Planned Parenthood openly committing fraud. She wrote: I remember the meeting like it was yesterday. All of the clinic directors assembled in the main conference room. Sitting in a sort of squared-circle facing each other.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research Debate Dying as Adult Cells Progress The great embryonic stem cell debate has really faded, hasn’t it? I mean, when was the last time you heard the, “ESCs are the ONLY HOPE for CURES! CURES! CURES!” nonsense.

China Apologizes, Suspends Officials Over Forced Late-Term Abortion In a rare move, China has apologized to a woman who was forced to undergo an abortion at seven months of pregnancy and has suspended three family planning officials after gruesome photos of the mother and her dead unborn baby went viral on the Internet. Chinese and American human rights groups exposed how the woman, Feng Jianmei, was beaten and dragged into a vehicle by a group of family planning officials while her husband, Deng Jiyuan, was out working. The officials asked for RMB 40,000 in fines from Feng Jianmei’s family and, when they did not receive the money, they forcibly aborted Feng at seven months, laying the body of her aborted baby next to her in the bed.

Obama Challenged to Publicly Condemn Forced Abortions President Barack Obama has received a challenge from a top pro-life group to publicly condemn sex-selection abortions in light of a brutal forced abortion of a Chinese woman who was seven months pregnant when her baby was killed. Obama has come under fire from pro-life advocates for opposing a bill in Congress that would have banned forced abortions. Today, following continued international outrage over a photo of a Chinese woman forced to abort her child at seven months pregnant, Susan B. Anthony List President Marjorie Dannenfelser called on President Obama to condemn China’s One-Child Policy and immediately cut off funding for the United Nation’s Population Fund (UNFPA) through an Executive Order.

Pro-Abortion Activist Sandra Fluke Endorses Obama Pro-abortion activist Sandra Fluke has unveiled her personal endorsement of President Obama in an editorial published by CNN. Her support for Obama stems primarily from his pro-abortion healthcare law and the HHS mandate. Fluke attacks Mitt Romney’s pro-life position in the editorial and says Romney “lacks the leadership to stand up to extremists in his own party.” Contrary to Fluke’s characterization, it’s President Obama and the pro-abortion movement that hold the extreme position on healthcare.

Obama’s Racially Divisive Ad Mirrors Abortion Industry Targeting Who needs originality when you can settle for used? The same Obama campaign machine that repurposed Bob the Builder’s “YES WE CAN” chant to a presidential campaign slogan, ha done it again with the latest “We’ve Got Your Back” radio ad. Never mind that three years ago a liberal Jewish peace organization, Brit Tzedek V’Shalom, merged with the leftist Soros-funded J Street PAC, and declared, “We’ve Got Your Back” as their effort to support the President’s foreign policy But Brit Tzedek V’Shalom’s version just didn’t have that sizzle. This week, urban radio stations across the country have been served a plate of hot campaign cheese, riddled with old-school R&B canned music, and a jingle with the flavor of a Saturday Night Live skit.

Additional Gallup Data Proves America Trending Strongly Pro-Life The recent Gallup survey that showed a significant decrease in “pro-choice” sentiment has received plenty of media attention. However, Gallup’s release of additional data from that survey last week has received considerably less coverage. In some respects, it is almost as if Gallup is using the release of this new data to downplay the results of their May survey. Gallup’s announcement specifically highlights various demographic groups that are strongly “pro-choice” including the non-religious and those with post-graduate degrees. This new data demographically breaks down the results of the original abortion survey. Most of these results are unsurprising to people who are familiar with abortion opinion data. Christians, those over 55, low-income earners, and those with less formal education are more likely to be “pro-life.” Conversely, those who espouse no religion, women of reproductive age, and high-income earners are more likely to describe themselves as “pro-choice.”

Senate Democrats Pushing Tax-Funded Abortions in D.C. Senate Democrats are, once again, pushing for taxpayer-funded abortions in the nation’s capital as they approved a spending bill for the District of Columbia earlier this week that removes the current ban on D.C. abortion funding. The Appropriations subcommittee passed a Democratic-sponsored measure providing $676 million in federal funds for the District, including money for abortions for any reason. The measure is different from the House version that Republicans have approved with the abortion funding ban remaining in place and it sets up a likely conference committee battle between House Republicans and Senate Democrats over the funding.

Sidewalk Counseling Tips: How to Help the Abortion-Minded Woman These are tips for reaching out to abortion-minded women in a time of crisis. I have been sidewalk counseling for almost three years. I have seen women broken by abortion before and after the procedure, and I have been privileged to be used as an instrument of God’s grace to save lives.

Guttmacher Inflates Number of Illegal Abortions in Colombia Last month a study in the Mexican peer-reviewed journal Ginecologia y Obstetricia de Mexico found solid evidence that the Guttmacher Institute had greatly overestimated the incidence of abortion in Colombia. Guttmacher analysts frequently try to predict the incidence of abortion in countries where abortion is illegal. In 2011, they published a paper which projected that over 400,000 abortions were performed in Colombia in 2008.

Phony “Death Panel” Definition Won’t Make the Issue Go Away The Medical Establishment continues to try and misdirect the conversation on the pending threat of “death panels” under Obamacare. They pretend it is about “end of life discussions.” But even though Sarah Palin mistakenly made that allusion when she first coined the term, she quickly corrected her mistake–as we noted here.

Parental consent and notification laws are based on a sound policy judgment: in areas of life, young people need the guidance of their parents in making important decisions; that includes decisions regarding abortion.

Exposed: Planned Parenthood Sells Tax-Funded Sex-Selection AbortionsTwo new expose’ videos reveal the Hawaii-based Planned Parenthood abortion business selling taxpayer-funded abortions to women posing as potential customers seeking an abortion for purposes of sex-selection. Live Action released new undercover footage today showing two Planned Parenthood clinics, in Maui and Honolulu, advising undercover investigators on how to procure a sex-selective abortion of her baby girl because she wants a boy instead. Officials with the group say Planned Parenthood claims publicly to condemn sex-selective abortion but continues to provide them to women who request them.

Olympian Dominique Moceanu Discovers Adopted “Secret Sister” Olympic gold medalist Dominique Moceanu is garnering attention and not because she is a hard-working athlete who is one of the world’s best. In new interviews, Moceanu says she discovered the “big lie” her father hid — that she has another sister, a secret sister given up for adoption at birth. Moceanu writes in her new memoir, Off Balance, about getting a letter and pictures in December 2007 from a woman aged 20 who looked very similar to her. “It was the biggest bombshell of my life,” Moceanu told ABC’s 20/20 in a new television interview late last week. “I had this sister who was given up for adoption, and I never knew it.”

Rich People FedEx Embryos to Women in India for Cheap Surrogacy U.S. Senator Introduces Sex-Selection Abortion Ban U.S. Senator David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, has introduced the Senate version of the Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act, which would make it illegal to obtain an abortion due to a gender preference. Vitter’s bill has 26 co-sponsors and is similar to legislation the House supported with a majority vote that ultimately fell short because Democrats would not go along with a measure that bans sex-selection abortions. “It’s flat out morally wrong to assign different values to unborn babies’ lives based on gender, but believe it or not, it happens,” said Vitter. “We should have zero tolerance for this kind of discrimination.”

Botched Abortion at New York Clinic Sends Woman to Hospital A failed abortion on a woman and her unborn child at a Bronx abortion clinic is opening the Dr. Emily’s Health Center abortion clinic to more criticism. This is the same abortion business found to have been engaged in illegal dumping. An ambulance transported a patient to the hospital from Dr. Emily’s Health Center Tuesday morning as pro-life activists photographed the incident. Witnesses informed LifeNews and the pro-life group Operation Rescue about the failed abortion, which had officials at the clinic carry the woman out on a covered stretcher to the awaiting ambulance.

Why Do “Social Justice” Christians Ignore Pro-Life Issues?  An abortion is the intentional killing of an unborn child inside (or partially inside) the womb. Social justice is . . . what exactly? Again and again I see young social justice-focused evangelicals abandoning any effective voice for the unborn for the sake of an ephemeral, culturally-fashionable concept that as a practical matter means little more than advocating a utopian ideal through a grab-bag of banal, functionally socialist policies. Moreover, the embrace of social justice often drives them functionally into the arms of a political party and political movements that are dedicated to protecting and even subsidizing the “right” to kill children on a vast, industrial scale.

Planned Parenthood Defeats North Dakota Religious Liberty Measure Thanks to an onslaught of spending in North Dakota by Planned Parenthood and other top abortion backers that distorted it, voters on Tuesday rejected a measure that protects religious freedom. Measure 3 was meant to safeguard religious freedoms without interfering with the legitimate needs of government to protect its citizens. With the attacks on religious liberties posed by Obamacare and its recent HHS mandate forcing religious groups to fund birth control or drugs that may cause abortions for their employees, states are pushing back with legislation and ballot proposals to protect their rights.

Americans Rally Nationwide, Demand Obama HHS Mandate Reversal Tens of thousands of Americans rallied today in more than 160 cities against the Obama HHS mandate that requires religious groups to pay for birth control and abortion -causing drugs for their employees. In the nation’s capital, they demanded that the Obama administration roll back the controversial mandate. The rallies are intended to send a message to the federal administration that the mandate is over-reaching, is an attack on the First Amendment rights of American religious institutions and significantly damaging to religious freedom and rights of conscience. Citizens across the country, national and regional rally organizers are concerned about closure of services to the poor, the sick, the elderly, the most vulnerable in society, because the Mandate would distinctly violate religious charitable institutions’ belief systems.

Polls Show Obama, Romney Close in 2012 Battleground States New polling data shows pro-abortion President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney, who has been endorsed by numerous pro-life groups and leaders, are locked in a close race in some of the top 2012 battleground states. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Missouri Voters shows Romney earning 49% of the vote, while President Obama picks up 42% support. Six percent (6%) favor some other candidate, and three percent (3%) are undecided. Romney held a 50% to 41% lead in March and John McCain edged Obama 50% to 49% to carry Missouri in the 2008 election.

Christians Should Vote for Romney, Because Judges Matter It’s no secret that I have been and remain a vocal critic of Mitt Romney. To say that his conservative bona fides are suspect is an understatement. I have tremendous respect for a number of fellow evangelical Christians who say that they will not support his presidential candidacy. I expect I will anger some of them, and may even lose a few friends. Still, in November, I am voting for Mr. Romney and suggest that any Christian – Republican, Democrat or independent – should do the same. Jesus admonished: “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents and harmless as doves.” (Matthew 10:16). It is through this biblical prism that I shine my multicolored analysis.

Planned Parenthood Mtg on Overbilling Govt: “We Won’t Get Caught” I remember the meeting like it was yesterday. All of the clinic directors assembled in the main conference room. Sitting in a sort of squared-circle facing each other. We were being told that we had all been guilty of fraudulent billing to the state and federal government. We didn’t even know that we had been participating in the fraud. We were all sitting there in silence. What did this mean? Were we in trouble? Could we potentially get in trouble? So, I broke the silence. I simply asked, “What are we going to do about the money we shouldn’t have received?” The response, “We are going to hope we don’t get caught.” But…”What if we do get caught? Can we be held responsible?” She then went into a long story about a similar situation she had once been in at a clinic where she once worked. The moral of the story was, yes, we could all be held responsible…but not to worry, “we” wouldn’t get caught.

Senate Votes Monday on Obama Pro-Abortion Judicial Pick The Senate will vote on Monday on Andrew Hurwitz, President Obama’s pro-abortion nominee to the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. Obama added to his pro-abortion record by placing yet another abortion activist in nomination to a top federal appeals court — this time a lawyer credited with helping craft the Roe v. Wade decision. He appointed Hurwitz to the 9th Circuit Court, the most liberal appeals court in the country based in San Francisco and covering laws approved in western states.

Police Force Pro-Lifers to Put Signs on Ground at Public Rally  Yesterday afternoon, I joined concerned citizens from around the Dayton area at the Stand Up for Religious Freedom Rally on the PUBLIC campus of Sinclair Community College. This was an official event sponsored by a campus group and part of a nationwide series of rallies being held today. I was the closing speaker for the rally, invited to speak to the crowd about getting involved and getting active. As the Rally was starting the campus police informed us that all the signs and banners people were holding must be put on the ground after a complaint from a homosexual advocacy group leader. The police walked around the crowd telling people to put their signs down, that they could not hold them in their hands.

New York Times Misleads on Abortion Properties of Ella, Plan B The recent New York Times article by Pam Belluck, asserting that so-called abortifacient drugs may not be abortive at all, is a wonderful example of convolution of facts to obscure reality. First of all, lumping together two very different drugs and calling them “morning-after pills” allows for clever confusion of what is known about the mechanism of action of each drug, and the role of progesterone in helping the embryo to implant and sustain the pregnancy. Plan B and Ella are very different drugs with very different mechanisms of action. Plan B is a progestin, a type of progesterone. Progesterone is a hormone that must be in a woman’s body for her to be able to allow the embryo to implant and develop the placental connections between the embryo and the mother. But Plan B is a very large dose of progesterone, higher than the woman’s body would normally make. It is the effect of that high dose which is under debate.

Stop Planned Parenthood From Setting Up Shop in Public Schools When I first read the headline of this story I was hoping I was reading wrong or that it was a parody. Unfortunately I was reading correctly and this was a real news story. Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest provider of abortion has set up one of their death camps inside the walls of a public high school.

Guttmacher Fails to Debunk Chilean Abortion-Maternal Mortality StudyA recent study which demonstrates that abortion restrictions in Chile have not hurt maternal-mortality outcomes has received a considerable amount of attention. As I wrote previously, this study is very important for several reasons. It is methodologically rigorous, it analyzes reliable public-health data, and it looks at one of the few countries to place restrictions on abortion after a period of legalization.
