Planned Parenthood Affiliate Quits, Mandated to Perform Abortions Planned Parenthood of South Central New York based in the New York cities of Binghamton and Oneonta has quit its affiliation with the national Planned Parenthood abortion business because it mandates that its chapters do abortions. Preferring to focus on family planning efforts, the chapter is breaking off of Planned Parenthood and renaming itself — preferring not to submit itself to a mandate that all chapters have clinics that do abortions that Planned Parenthood wants in place next year. Hobby Lobby Asks Appeals Court: Stop Obama HHS Mandate Following a new ruling by a federal appeals court granting temporary relief from the HHS Mandate to a Missouri business, attorneys for Hobby Lobby asked another appeals court in its case to stop the pro-abortion mandate as well. Attorneys with the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty urged the 10th Circuit to grant identical relief in their appeal on behalf of Hobby Lobby, a Christian-owned-and-operated business that in five weeks faces crippling fines of up to $1.3 million per day if they do not comply with the HHS mandate against their religious beliefs. War on Women’s Brains: Sandra Fluke Person of the Year? Every year, TIME Magazine, a periodical which continues to insist upon its own relevancy despite the fact that no one under the age of 40 reads it, nominates a list of people to be its Person of the Year. The criteria for having this title bestowed upon you is that you be “the person or persons who most affected the news and our lives, for good or ill, and embodied what was important about the year.” This year, they have nominated Sandra Fluke, the young woman you are sick to death of hearing about. The Georgetown law student was used as a political prop to great effect by Democrats when they held up a megaphone to her battle cry that Georgetown – a Catholic university – doesn’t provide enough access to birth control pills for female students. U.S. Birth Rate Falls to Lowest Ever, Fewer Babies is Bad News The Pew research center is out with new data showing the birth rate in the United States has fallen to its lowest point ever. Although Pew doesn’t say it, the abortion culture Roe v. Wade has produced is already causing problems, according to one pro-life opinion columnist. Overall, the birth rate in the United States plunged 8 percent from 2007 to 2010. With new figures from the CDC showing the abortion numbers falling 5% from 2008-2009, the birth rate is not falling because more women are having abortions. Read More

Pro-Lifers Win First Appeals Court Victory Against HHS Mandate A federal appeals court today issued an order granting a motion for a preliminary injunction that temporarily blocks the implementation of the HHS mandate against a Missouri business owner. The decision is the first occasion on which a pro-life plaintiff has secured a legal victory against the HHS mandate at the federal appeals court level. Most of the dozens of cases against the HHS mandate are still at the federal district court level. Read More

Senate Votes to Begin Debate on Pro-Abortion UN Treaty The Senate voted to begin debate on a UN treaty that pro-life groups are worried would be used to promote abortion on a worldwide scale. The vote was on a “Motion to Proceed,” meaning the Senate gave permission to begin debate regarding the treaty. Read More

Pro-Lifers Should Remain Active in the Political Process The devastating election results may be enough for some pro-life advocates to call it quits and decide to get out of the political process by ending their involvement in supporting and electing pro-life candidates. Other pro-life advocates may think electing pro-life candidates doesn’t bear any pro-life fruit — even though pro-life laws have saved millions of unborn children and cut abortions in some states by as much as 50 percent to historic lows. Last Mississippi Abortion Clinic Could Close in February The last abortion clinic in Mississippi is struggling to stay open as it battles a law that could result in the Magnolia State becoming the first state in the nation to not have a single abortion business. Planned Parenthood lauds UNFPA’s contraception as a human right declaration Reading a recent blurb in the Minnesota Planned Parenthood Advocate, one can see clearly that Planned Parenthood is writing the core of the playbook for the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). “For the first time, the U.N. Population Fund’s annual report, released November 14, explicitly declares family planning, including access to contraception, a universal human right,” Planned Parenthood reports. Read More

Planned Parenthood and lukewarm Catholics Our nation is riding a long, dark, out-of-control train that is powered by Planned Parenthood and its pernicious immorality. That train is on a collision course for hell. A society that falls into moral decay will not long survive. The only way to regain control and avert a terminal train wreck is to regain the hearts of the people. That will only happen when Catholics turn on the hot water tap and bring their lukewarm faith to the boiling point. Father Jeffrey Montz of Kenner, Louisiana, explained the importance of casting aside a lukewarm faith in regaining the culture, and thus our country, in his post-election homily, where he pointed out that the election results were all about the moral decline of our nation. He quoted Pope St. Pius X, who said, “All evil in the world is due to lukewarm Catholics.” Read More

Small school makes big splash against Planned Parenthood The students at St. John’s Catholic School in remote Beloit, Kansas, are serious about putting their faith into action to stop Planned Parenthood. So serious that they have boarded buses at least four times to travel an average of more than three hours—one way—to pray at Planned Parenthood facilities. Afterward, they returned home—another 3-hour bus trip—the same day.
Theology teacher Andrew Niewald shared the story with STOPP in hopes that other Catholic schools will be inspired and will join in similar real-world activities to help students understand the primordial error of the abortion- and contraceptive-crazed culture, and to internalize the urgency and effectiveness of Christian witness from grassroots level young people engaging in the culture wars. Planned Parenthood threatens to close Lubbock abortion facility With funding for Planned Parenthood in Texas scheduled to come to a screeching halt on December 31, Lubbock Planned Parenthood officials are predicting “a change in the tides come 12/31.” An October 26 petition filed by Planned Parenthood in Travis County claims that “Without WHP funding, (Planned Parenthood of Lubbock) will likely be forced to cut back the hours of its health center or even to close its only health center entirely.” A Lubbock Avalanche Journal article says that, in 2011, the Lubbock Planned Parenthood abortion center got a whopping $540,000 in taxpayer funded Women’s Health Program reimbursements—almost half of its total revenue. Planned Parenthood won’t say whether the Lubbock abortion facility will shut down, but the article quotes Planned Parenthood interim CEO Tara Haskell saying, “I still feel like we’re in limbo at this point.” Read More

Pro-Life News, Nov 27, 2012

Poll: Abortion Didn’t Cost GOP Election, More Americans Still Pro-Life Much has been written about the effect of abortion on the 2012 presidential race and the apparent sudden shift in polls from the pro-life plurality (or majority, which we have seen in recent years) to a plurality or bare majority self identifying as pro-choice. What has not been reported is that 1) of those who voted on the basis of abortion, the pro-life vote for pro-life candidates essentially equaled the pro-abortion vote for pro-abortion candidates; and 2) basic attitudes on abortion itself have not changed. A plurality, or even majority, of the public continues to oppose the vast majority of abortions that are actually performed. Read More

More Than 400 Women Have Died From Legal Abortions Since 1973 Abortion numbers, rates, and ratios for 2009 have been released by the government’s Centers for Disease Control (CDC), indicating significantly fewer abortions than found in the previous year’s report. And while the decrease is most welcomed, the abortion industry likes to act as if women no longer died from abortion once it became legal. In fact, CDC reports that twelve more women died in 2008, the most recent year for which the CDC had data, and more than 400 women have died from legal abortion since 1973. Read More

Christian Companies Can't Bow To Sinful Mandate

Editor's note: The following opinion article was written before our report on the continued Government attack on the moral conscious of the owners and managers of Hobby Lobby Stores with regard to Obamacare contraception mandates and the funding of abortions. The following article by David Green was on Sept 12, 2012 in the opinion forum of US Today. As it is relevant and remains appropriate for educational purposes to our readers, the entire article is shared under the "Fair Use Doctrine." We appreciate that some people of conscious are remain standing while so many others yield their beliefs and bow to the will of Caesar (the Government) verses their Lord and Savior and commitment to the sanctity of life.

by David Green, CEO and Founder of Hobby Lobby Stores, Inc.: When my family and I started our company 40 years ago, we were working out of a garage on a $600 bank loan, assembling miniature picture frames. Our first retail store wasn't much bigger than most people's living rooms, but we had faith that we would succeed if we lived and worked according to God's word. From there, Hobby Lobby has become one of the nation's largest arts and crafts retailers, with more than 500 locations in 41 states. Our children grew up into fine business leaders, and today we run Hobby Lobby together, as a family.

We're Christians, and we run our business on Christian principles. I've always said that the first two goals of our business are 1) to run our business in harmony with God's laws, and 2) to focus on people more than money. And that's what we've tried to do. We close early so our employees can see their families at night. We keep our stores closed on Sundays, one of the week's biggest shopping days, so that our workers and their families can enjoy a day of rest. We believe that it is by God's grace that Hobby Lobby has endured, and he has blessed us and our employees. We've not only added jobs in a weak economy, we've also raised wages for the past four years in a row. Our full-time employees start at 80% above minimum wage.

But now, our government threatens to change all of that. A new government health care mandate says that our family business must provide what I believe are abortion-causing drugs as part of our health insurance. Being Christians, we don't pay for drugs that might cause abortions. Which means that we don't cover emergency contraception, the morning-after pill or the week-after pill. We believe doing so might end a life after the moment of conception, something that is contrary to our most important beliefs. It goes against the biblical principles on which we have run this company since day one. If we refuse to comply, we could face $1.3 million per day in government fines.

Our government threatens to fine job creators in a bad economy. Our government threatens to fine a company that's raised wages four years running. Our government threatens to fine a family for running its business according to its beliefs. It's not right.

I know people will say we ought to follow the rules, that it's the same for everybody. But that's not true. The government has exempted thousands of companies from this mandate, for reasons of convenience or cost. But it won't exempt them for reasons of religious belief. So, Hobby Lobby — and my family — are forced to make a choice. With great reluctance, we filed a lawsuit today, represented by the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, asking a federal court to stop this mandate before it hurts our business. We don't like to go running into court, but we no longer have a choice. We believe people are more important than the bottom line and that honoring God is more important than turning a profit.

My family has lived the American dream. We want to continue growing our company and providing great jobs for thousands of employees, but the government is going to make that much more difficult. The government is forcing us to choose between following our faith and following the law. I say that's a choice no American — and no American business — should have to make.

Tis the season to be joyful and thankful. THIRTY-EIGHT workers leave the abortion industry! Thank you, Lord, for new beginnings!

Supreme Court Orders New Look at Obamacare, Abortion Funding The Supreme Court today ordered a federal appeals court to take a new look at the controversial Obamacare law and whether it unconstitutionally forces taxpayers to fund abortions and birth control, violating religious freedoms. The high court ordered the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to consider the case of Liberty University, a Christian college that contends Obama’s health care law violates the school’s religious freedoms. A federal judge rejected the case and the 4th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled the lawsuit was premature but did not deal with the main points the lawsuit brought up. Read More

Senate May Vote Wednesday on Treaty Promoting Abortion The Senate may vote on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) this week, a measure that has had pro-life advocates concerned for months. Ton Perkins, the head of the Family Research Council, has previously noted the pro-life concerns, saying abortion advocates put language in the treaty in Article 25 that requires signatories to ‘provide persons with disabilities… free or affordable health care including in the area of sexual and reproductive health and population-based health programs.’” Read More

Planned Parenthood expands reach with federal sex ed money in Virginia

By Rita Diller, American Life League: Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Virginia has received government funding that enables it to expand its systematic sexualization and degradation of 9th graders in the Newport News public schools with "risk reduction" sex education. The money comes from the $75 million pool set aside as a part of Obamacare to teach the Personal Responsibility Education Program (PREP). The PREP money is setting students up for disaster as it enables Planned Parenthood and other organizations access to the most vulnerable youth across the nation. The curriculum being used in Newport News, Virginia, is distributed by ETR Associates, formerly the education department of Planned Parenthood of Santa Cruz. . . . Read More

Canada: 491 Babies Born Alive After Failed Abortions, Left to Die

by Steven Ertelt, Life News: Figures from Statistics Canada, a federal government agency, show 491 babies were born alive following botched abortions during the period from 2000-2009 and left to die afterwards. The numbers have pro-life advocates up in arms.

Andre Schutten, legal counsel for ARPA Canada, noticed the numbers and blogged about them recently.

The blog Run with Life has reported that, from 2000 to 2009, 491 babies have been born alive following a failed abortion procedure, and subsequently left to die. And those are only the ones that are recordedby Statistics Canada.

The blog explains that “there were 491 abortions, of 20 weeks gestation and greater, that resulted in live births. This means that the aborted child died after it was born. These abortions are coded as P96.4 or ‘Termination of pregnancy, affecting fetus and newborn’.”

The question that should immediately present itself is, why has there not been 491 homicide investigations or prosecutions in connection with these deaths? Section 223(2) of the Criminal Code (the accompanying subsection to the now infamous subsection that Mr. Woodworth’s motion 312 was examining) reads “A person commits homicide when he causes injury to a child before or during its birth as a result of which the child dies after becoming a human being.” That is to say, anyone who interferes with a pregnancy such that the child dies after it is born alive due to that interference, is guilty of homicide.

So again, why have there been no criminal prosecutions? Why no outcry? And why are the provinces funding this explicitly criminal activity?

Some might argue that these procedures need to be protected in order to protect women’s health. Those who defend such actions or procedures are undoubtedly grasping at the defense for the crime listed in 238(1). Subsection 238(2) provides this defence: “This section does not apply to a person who, by means that, in good faith, he considers necessary to preserve the life of the mother of a child, causes the death of that child.”

However, this defense does not apply to section 223(2); it only applies to section 238(1). That section states “Every one who causes the death, in the act of birth, of any child that has not become a human being, in such a manner that, if the child were a human being, he would be guilty of murder, is guilty of an indictable offence and liable to imprisonment for life.” (Which is, incidentally, another section that is not prosecuted or investigated enough.)

The lack of prosecution demonstrates two things: first, that political correctness surrounding the abortion issue trumps common sense, common decency and the rule of law; and second, that those who advocate for this type of behaviour are truly pro-abortion and not pro-choice. Let me explain: the only defense that could possibly justify such a procedure would be to save the life of the mother. But note well that in order to save the life of the mother a physician would only need to end the pregnancy – and that can happen, at this late stage of pregnancy, with either a live, albeit premature, baby or a dead baby. If the terminated pregnancy results in a human being dying after birth, it is because that death was the end goal; saving the life of the baby’s mother was only a pretext.

Our provinces need to stop funding this criminal behaviour. Our police need to start investigating this criminal behaviour. Our society needs to stop tolerating this behaviour. And our politicians need to keep discussing this behaviour.

The Born Alive Infants Protection Act in the United States, signed into law by pro-life President George W. Bush, protects such babies in the U.S. and it came into existence after pro-life nurse Jill Stanek noticed babies born alive and left to die at his Chicago-area hospital.

This issue is still controversial given that pro-abortion President Barack Obama repeatedly failed to support the bill approved in the Illinois legislature to provide appropriate medical care and protection for such babies.

Mary Spaulding Balch, J.D., director of the National Right to Life Office of State Legislation, says the issue is still a concerned both in the U.S. and worldwide.

Are You Pro-Life? Really?

Dr. Bill Smith, Editorial Note: I received a twitter with a link the following article written in April 2012 for review.  The  article is by a democrat that self-professes to be both believe in bigger government and is pro-life. Unfortunately, when he side with big government and a leftest leaning party that openly supports abortion in all situation and at their party's convention rejected GOD, his social beliefs and values are swept under the rug by his political party. However, I commend Matthew Anselmo for publicly expressing his pro-life position. And, he asks a question which I often find my self either asking or thinking when talking with or listening to democrats claiming to be pro-life.

Matthew Anselmo, Editor, MormonDem: Since the Supreme Court case of Roe v. Wade was decided in 1973, there have been an estimated 50 million abortions. This number is greater than the current population of any state, including California. This number is greater than the populations of major countries such as Spain, Canada, and England. While it is true that legalizing abortion caused this number to expand, had abortion remained illegal 50 million additional children would have been born to parents that did not want them, could not care for them, or lacked the emotional or financial means to provide for them. Even assuming that a small percentage could have been adopted by good families, and women with financial means were able to have abortions (as there will always be doctors willing to perform the practice at a certain price), there would still be millions of unwanted children that would need our support. When discussing the issue of abortion, the ramifications of illegality are rarely discussed, and thus the debates remain short-sighted.

I am pro-life. I believe that abortion should be avoided, with the exception of rape or when the mother’s life is in jeopardy. I understand the emotion behind this issue, and many of you may be listing five different reasons why I am out of touch or why this position might be inferred to disrespect women. Let me further explain my point of view.

I am pro-life in a larger context. For many on the right side of the political spectrum, a pro-life stance drives discussion around the sanctity of the embryo. Typically there is little discussion around what happens to that unborn child once it arrives in the world. What I find most alarming about the issue is the intensity of the right to fight for the child’s existence but somehow that same intensity disappears after that same miraculous organism draws their first breath. I believe that the rights of the embryo do not stop after birth, but should instead be supported by society in the best manner possible. To disagree might indicate the use of the embryo merely as a prop to support an ideological position.

Over the past several decades there have been many laws passed by the government that support children. From after-school programs to educational grants, children’s health insurance, and food stamps, the government has stepped in to support underprivileged children. Most of these programs have passed with near partisan support, primarily driven by Democrats. Presidents Obama and Clinton have driven more legislation that assists underprivileged children than any other presidents since FDR. For those who understand the childhood history of these two presidents, their passion and understanding of what is necessary to help bridge the resource gap is not surprising. As we debate laws and legislation that affect children, we need to recognize that government can be a solution.

Many will say that pro-life refers only to the unborn child, but to me this concept stretches further. Christ said “But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.” If we truly are pro-life and fight to halt the onerous practice of abortion, we need to remember that the birth of a child is not the end, but the beginning.
Matthew Anselmo blogs at the MormonDem and says he is passionate about politics. He is middle manager for P&G. He is married and a father to four daughters (9,7,3,1). He is a democrat but then identifies himself as being in the middle, saying he sides more with conservatives on social platforms, but leans left on the role of government.

Pro-Life Group: New Flu Vaccine Flucelvax Not Abortion-Based A pro-life group that monitors vaccinations that are sometimes based on cells taken from babies who are victimized by abortions says the new flu vaccine Flucelvax is moral and pro-life advocates can use it. Children of God for Life announced this week that Flucelvax produced by Novartis uses a morally produced mammal-based cell line rather than chick embryo. The group informed LifeNews the proprietary cell line called MDCK (Madin Darby Canine Kidney) has been used for decades in vaccine production and offers a moral alternative to aborted fetal cell line flu vaccines that are currently under development by competing manufacturers. Forget the Gender Gap, America Has a Fertility Voting Gap The mainstream media is enamored with the gender gap — poking fun at Republicans for supposedly being unable to attract women voters. Republicans have responded by pointing out that they do well with married women with families. The Murder of Blessed Miguel Pro, - The Purpose of Displaying Graphic Photos

Via TeresAmericaLifeSiteNews  / Whenever we go out on the streets for a “Face the Truth” Tour, we can always count on someone happening by our display to tell us that by showing graphic abortion pictures in the public square, we’re doing more harm than good. This is a charge we’ve heard often enough that we address it as one of the most Common Objections we hear.

In our response to this oft-raised argument, we plainly make the observation that throughout modern history, any number of successful social reform movements — from the movement to enact child labor laws to the civil rights movement — have used disturbing images that depict victims of maltreatment and violence, and that public support for the reforms these movements sought could not have been garnered without publicly showing graphic images of the victims.

Putting a Human Face on the Victims
The intent behind displaying graphic abortion pictures is the same, of course, for it puts a human face on the victims of what is, for far too many people, merely a theoretical concept or political issue.

Fr. Miguel Pro in the final
moments before his execution
Lewis Hine believed it was necessary to show victims of cruelty of the child labor industry, and Mamie Till believed it was necessary to have an open-casket funeral for her son Emmett after he was brutally murdered by violent racists.

We display graphic pictures of aborted babies for the same reason: because they work. That is, in the eyes of the viewer, the images elicit sympathy for the victims of injustice.

In the case of reform movements that have employed the use of graphic pictures in working to effect social change, it perhaps goes without saying that one commonality these movements share is that it is members of the movements themselves that are the ones who initially seek to disseminate them.

However, a movement closely associated with one of the martyrs whose feast day the Catholic Church will celebrate this Friday provides an exception to this rule.

Graphic Pictures of Blessed Miguel Pro, S.J.
During the 1920s, Mexico was ruled by the virulently anti-Catholic President Plutarco Calles, who began what Graham Greene called “the fiercest persecution of religion anywhere since the reign of Elizabeth.” Chief among the many Catholic groups who vigorously opposed Calles were the Cristero rebels, whose story is depicted in the film For Greater Glory. . . . 4th Straight Year: Obama Thanksgiving Resolution Doesn’t Thank God For the fourth straight year, the Thanksgiving resolution from President Barack Obama fails to actually thank God — which is the fundamental reason why Thanksgiving is observed. In 1789, President George Washington issued a proclamation that set forth the main reason for Thanksgiving, saying, “Now therefore I do recommend and assign Thursday the 26th day of November next to be devoted by the People of these States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be. That we may then all unite in rendering unto him our sincere and humble thanks – for his kind care and protection of the People of this Country previous to their becoming a Nation.” Read More

Like Lincoln on Slavery, Pro-Lifers are Dedicated to Ending Abortion Last night, my husband and I went Christmas shopping for our boys and out to a movie, our first evening without Gunner and Bear in months. Which movie did we chose to see? Lincoln. The movie picks up immediately after President Lincoln’s re-election in January 1865. Abortions Fall 5 Percent Nationwide, Biggest Drop in 10 Years Abortion fell five percent nationwide in 2009, according to new information from the Centers for Disease Control, which tracks abortion figures nationwide. Since 1969, CDC has conducted abortion surveillance to document the number and characteristics of women obtaining legal induced abortions in the United States. However, because the data doesn’t include numbers from all 50 states, most pro-life groups consider the data incomplete. Read More

Hobby Lobby Appeals Decision Forcing It to Obey HHS Mandate Hobby Lobby, a Christian-owned and run company, is fighting back against a judge’s decision siding with the Obama administration saying that it has the right to force it to pay for drugs for women that may cause abortions. The privately held retail chain with more than 500 arts and crafts stores in 41 states filed a lawsuit against the Obama administration over its HHS mandate. The company says it would face $1.3 million in fines on a daily basis starting in January if it fails to comply with the mandate, which requires religious employers to pay for or refer women for abortion-cause drugs that violate their conscience or religious beliefs. Read More

Attack on Elderly Pro-Lifer Leads to Arrest of Serial Rapist I wrote in July about the attack of 69-yr-old pro-lifer Everett Stadig by an abortion proponent as Stadig was collecting signatures for Colorado’s personhood initiative in front of a Denver grocery store. What followed is an example of perseverance in the face of injustice, which led to an amazing conclusion and a reminder of Genesis 50:20, “Even though you planned evil against me, God planned good to come out of it. This was to keep many people alive….” Read More

Ten Reasons the Pro-Life Movement is Winning on Abortion We are closer to achieving our goal of winning the fight to end abortion and restoring protection to children in the womb than the mainstream media is reporting. To help you see the truth of that statement and to inspire you to renew your commitment to the fight, here are ten signs that point to the fact that the end of abortion in America will come sooner than you may think. Of this much I am certain, we will not have to wait for the next generation to plan and carry out victory
celebrations. That will be our task. Read More
