Last Week Gosnell Book Made History

by Ann & Phelim:  We need to tell you all about the last week - what a week it was! (And that's despite the complete lack of coverage by the mainstream media who are still trying to suppress the truth about Gosnell).

Gosnell - The Untold Story of America's Most Prolific Serial Killer launched on January 24th. Two days later, we were invited to The White House by Vice President Mike Pence where we had the extraordinary honor of meeting him and the Counselor to The President Kellyanne Conway.

The above would have been enough to make last week the best ever, but there is so much more!

Ann was invited to talk about the book by the mighty Bill O'Reilly on The Factor and on the Rush Limbaugh Show (with the the one and only Mark Steyn guest-hosting).

The Gosnell book immediately soared to No. 3 on the Amazon Best Sellers List (that's third most-selling book of ALL BOOKS on Amazon!!!). It remained near the top for the rest of the week and it now features a 5-star rating from customers.

Three days after publication, the Gosnell book SOLD out completely on Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Books A Million. That is a lot of people buying the books for themselves, their family and friends and that's many new people being exposed to the truth about the Gosnell story.

All the retailers have re-ordered and our publisher is rushing another printing. Right now, the fastest way of getting the book is buying an e-book on Amazon. You don't even need a Kindle device to read it - just install a free Kindle app on your smartphone, tablet or laptop. If you prefer a hardcover, you can order from Barnes & Noble who is going to ship the copies again this week. (Their website states Feb 8th but it should be sooner as more copies are already on the way to them).

But wait, there is more!

Ann and Phelim spoke and signed books at a Heritage event (streamed by Daily Signal and watched live by 100,000 people), at the King's College in NYC (where they also screened the Gosnell Movie for the students) and of course at the March for Life. Ann then traveled to a conference in St. Louis where she showed the movie and signed books again.

The online buzz is massive too. We were featured and reviewed by The Daily Mail, The Irish Time, Breitbar, The Federalist, PJ Media, Townhall, Red State, the Christian Post, Conservative Review and more. And today we landed on the New York Post's "This week's must-read books.

We were also all over the radio and podcast world with interviews on Bill O'Reilly's The Contributing Factor, Mark Steyn's TV, The Eric Metaxas show, The Mike Gallagher Show, In The Market with Janet Parschall, Bill Martinez Live, The Kevin McCullough Show, The Schilling Show and many more.

For those of you who are wondering about the movie - all this publicity is going to help us greatly with finding investors for an independent release of the film this year. Stay tuned!

For now, please help the Gosnell story remain in the papers and the public eye and order the book today on Barnes & Noble or an e-book on Amazon. As you can see, the mainstream media is still ignoring the Gosnell book despite our success, but we now have a really good chance to get on The New York Times Best Sellers List - we will find out if we are on it this Wednesday! So please, if you bought the book already, order one or two more for your friends and send the link to anyone interested.

Together, we can end the coverup!

President Trump Nominates Pro-Life-Friendly Judge Neil Gorsuch to SCOTUS

President Donald Trump tonight has nominated pro-life friendly federal appeals court Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. Gorsuch has taken the pro-life side in important cases and written a book excoriating assisted suicide.

The 49-year-old Judge Gorsuch, if confirmed, would replace pro-life Justice Antonin Scalia – who supporting overturning Roe v. Wade and allowing states to once again provide legal protection for unborn children.

Justice Gorsuch is currently a judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, which includes the districts of Colorado, Kansas, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming, as well as the Eastern, Northern and Western districts of Oklahoma. He has served as a federal judge since August 2006 and was appointed by President George W. Bush and confirmed unanimously by the Senate.

The pro-life legal scholars who know him best say he is a strong originalist, believing that the Constitution should only be interpreted as the Founding Fathers intended. That would him squarely in the legal camp of Justice Scalia. . . . Read More

Senate Democrats Will Filibuster President Trump’s Supreme Court Nominee No Matter Who It Is

President Trump hasn’t even announced who his Supreme Court nominee will be and already Senate Democrats have announced their intention to use the filibuster to oppose his nomination.

With Trump prepared to announce his nominee on Tuesday evening, Sen. Jeff Merkle, a pro-abortion Oregon Democrat, said in an interview on Monday morning that he will filibuster any pick other than pro-abortion Judge Merrick garland — who pro-abortion president Barack Obama named to replace pro-life Justice Antonin Scalia.

“This is a stolen seat. This is the first time a Senate majority has stolen a seat,” Merkley said in an interview. “We will use every lever in our power to stop this.” . . . Read More

Pro-Life Groups Urge Senate to Confirm Pro-Life Rep. Tom Price as HHS Secretary

Dr. Price is one of President Donald Trump’s marquee pro-life nominees to head a cabinet department that will have significant overview concerning pro-life policies. Leading up to tomorrow’s vote, pro-life organizations such as the Family Research Council are urging senators to vote Yes on Price’s nomination. . . .

Price has a long pro-life voting record as a member of Congress and has voted pro life 100% of the time according to the National Right to Life Committee.

In a statement about the nomination, Trump said Price has earned a reputation for being a “tireless problem solver” and “the go-to expert on healthcare policy.”

“He is exceptionally qualified to shepherd our commitment to repeal and replace Obamacare and bring affordable and accessible healthcare to every American,” Mr. Trump said. “I am proud to nominate him as secretary of Health and Human Services.”

Mr. Price, chairman of the House Budget Committee and an outspoken opponent of Obamacare from Georgia, said it’s an “honor” to be nominated for the position.

“There is much work to be done to ensure we have a healthcare system that works for patients, families, and doctors; that leads the world in the cure and prevention of illness; and that is based on sensible rules to protect the well-being of the country while embracing its innovative spirit,” said Mr. Price, Georgia Republican.

During a debate over legislation to stop taxpayer funding of abortion, Congressman Price laid out his pro-life views.

“This legislation prohibits taxpayer funding of elective abortions, no matter where in the federal system that might occur. This is a position supported by the majority of Americans in a bipartisan manner. We have a responsibility, through our government, to protect the most vulnerable among us, not the least of whom are the unborn. This bill is an important step in the right direction,” he said.

Price has also blasted the Independent Payment Advisory Board, which has been derisively called “death panels” by detractors.

He said: “Patients, families, and doctors should make medical decisions, not Washington, DC. The Independent Payment Advisory Board is a direct threat to quality, innovative and responsive health care for America’s seniors. This board of unelected, unaccountable bureaucrats has the power to deny care to seniors by deciding unilaterally what care will be paid for. Repealing IPAB will help protect the patient-doctor relationship for Medicare beneficiaries. It is part of what must be a broader effort to focus attention on solutions that put patients first.”

“When bureaucrats choose, patients lose,”he concluded. . . . Read More

VP Pence Invites Pro-Life Leaders to the White House, Obama Had Abortion Activists

VP Mike Pence & NRTL President Carol Tobias
Just ahead of the March for Life, pro-life leaders received a special invitation to visit with Vice President Mike Pence at the White House.

Kristan Hawkins, president of Students for Life of America, told Breitbart her invitation to the White House on the eve of the annual pro-life march brought her hope.

“I was so honored to have been invited to the White House the day before the March for Life to meet Vice President Mike Pence, who I have worked with years in the pro-life movement,” Hawkins told the news outlet. “We have no better ally as pro-lifers and as I’ve said before, Mike Pence was working to defund Planned Parenthood before it was cool.” . . .

National Right to Life President Carol Tobias was another of the many pro-life leader to attend the Vice President’s event. . . .

Hawkins said her organization will hold Trump to his promises.

“We’re looking forward to making sure President Trump holds up his end of the bargain – his promises,” she said. “Defunding Planned Parenthood of our federal taxpayer dollars, appointing pro-life Supreme Court justices, codifying the Hyde Amendment law so our taxpayer dollars don’t fund abortions, and banning late-term 20-week abortions.” . . . Trump’s Overseas Abortion Restrictions Will Protect Women & Pro-Life Laws

President Trump Signs Mexico City Policy
by Lisa Correnti (C-FAM): On his first full day in office, President Donald Trump issued an executive order that blocks international global health groups from receiving millions in US taxpayer dollars if they promote or perform abortion.

Undeterred by a large women’s protest in Washington DC the day after being sworn in as the nations 45th president, Trump used his executive powers to change course on US global health assistance from promoting abortion to prioritizing health interventions that safeguard the lives of women and children.

“I am delighted that this long-standing pro-life foreign aid restriction has been reapplied by President Trump,” Senator Mike Lee said. Lee and several Republican senators issued a resolution last Friday supporting the reinstating of an expanded Mexico City Policy and legislative action to permanently codify into law.

“Not only has it been reapplied; it has been modernized to take into account the current global health foreign aid environment and will be inclusive of other US foreign aid funding sources beyond simply the USAID family planning account.”

The executive action will prevent international non-government organizations (NGOs) that promote, lobby or perform abortions from being eligible for U.S. foreign assistance even if they use non-US funding for this purpose. Current statutory limitations prohibit funding overseas abortions through the 1973 Helms amendment to the US foreign aid law. That restriction covers abortion only and not the proliferation of abortion policy occurring through the efforts of these groups.

President Trump’s memorandum directs the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Health and Human Services, “to the extent allowable by law, to implement a plan to extend the requirements of the reinstated Memorandum to global health assistance furnished by all departments or agencies.”

The application appears to cover all State Department global health grants and contracts, totaling more than $9 billion. The expansion was made necessary due to the Obama administration streamlining sexual and reproductive health in sectors where it had never been. Population policy programs are now funded through nutrition, environment, food security, defense and HIV/AIDs programs often preventing faith-based groups from qualifying.

Marie Stopes International, the largest UK-based abortion provider said they would end their partnership with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) forfeiting any new funding to continue performing abortion.

“This is the most extreme executive order that we have ever seen, in the global health space, under any Republican administration,” a Planned Parenthood spokesperson said.

International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), the international arm of Planned Parenthood, estimates a loss of $100 million in U.S. grants by not complying. In 2015 IPPF reported ending the lives of 1 million unborn children. IPPF operates clinics in all African countries though abortion is restricted in most. There the group works to change laws through lobbying efforts.

Senator Jeanne Shaheen (D-NH) citing debunked statistics of abortion increasing when the Mexico City Policy is instituted introduced legislation to permanently repeal the policy though the current congressional landscape makes this unlikely. Congresswoman Nita Lowey introduced the House counterpart, known as “The Her Act.”

The Mexico City Policy had previously been limited to family planning assistance amounting to over $600M administered through USAID despite the fact that women in developing countries report near universal saturation. Much of the funding was funneled to foreign organizations working to obstruct pro-life laws and institutionalize abortion services under the exceptions allowed by law.

Trump’s action follows what has become a first-day-in-office political tradition followed by Presidents Bush, Clinton, Bush and Obama whereby US funding of abortion overseas is either allowed or blocked.

Americans agree: Don’t Fund Abortions Abroad

Pro-life Vice President Mike Pence & NRLC President Carol Tobias
by Carol Tobias, President, National Right to Life: This past Monday, pro-life President Donald Trump made it abundantly clear the United States will no longer use taxpayer dollars to support organizations that promote the killing of unborn children in developing nations.

I congratulate White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer for explaining to reporters the underpinnings of that change: that funneling tax dollars overseas to organizations that perform or promote abortions “is contrary to the values of this president.”

The president’s action illustrates, he said, “not just to the folks here in this country, but around the world, what a value we place on life.”

I heartily applaud the first of what we at National Right to Life expect to be many pro-life decisions from a pro-life administration.

The Mexico City Policy was implemented in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan, kept in place by President George H.W. Bush, rescinded by President Bill Clinton, and again put in place by President George W. Bush until rescinded by President Obama in 2009.

And because it is an often-ignored truth, it is important to know the Mexico City Policy does not impact the level of funding available. Rather, it sets a standard grantees must meet in order to be eligible for U.S. taxpayer funding.

When a group declines to accept funds because of the policy, those funds are directed to another group willing to avoid abortion-promoting activities.

President Trump’s position is supported by an overwhelming percentage of Americans. A Marist poll, conducted in December, found that 83 percent “oppose using tax dollars to support abortion in other countries.” A whopping 73 percent of those who self-identify as “pro-choice” oppose using tax dollars to support abortion in other countries.

I am proud of America. We are a country second to none in showing compassion to the less fortunate. However, I do not want the United States sending the message to other nations that their children are not valuable; that we think the people of that country would be better off if more of their children were never born.

When previous pro-life presidents adopted the Mexico City Policy, most family-planning groups complied with the policy and continued to receive U.S. funds.

However, groups that refuse to distinguish between abortion and family planning (“reproductive rights are indivisible,” as they say), such as the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) and the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), refused to accept the money. Apparently, abortion is more important to them than other “services” they offer.

One restriction of the Mexico City Policy is that organizations receiving U.S. funds may not lobby governments of other countries about abortion. Both IPPF and PPFA have openly worked to change pro-life laws in other countries, undermining the religious and cultural values important to those countries.

It’s not hard to imagine how Americans would react if another country funded efforts to change laws here.

President Trump’s decision should be seen in light of the House of Representatives vote this week in favor of the No Taxpayer Funding of Abortion Act. As Rep. Chris Smith, co-chair of the House Pro-Life Caucus, explained, President Trump’s memorandum

“Demonstrates that the Trump Administration is committed to a consistent, government-wide policy: taxpayer dollars should not fund abortion or the abortion industry—either domestically or internationally.”

Maternal and infant mortality remain serious problems in the developing world, which the United States has and should continue to address in life-affirming ways. But ending the lives of unborn children is not a solution to maternal and infant mortality — abortion is infant mortality. Real solutions involve improving genuine health care for both women and their little ones.

Under the Mexico City Policy, the United States will continue to provide funds to help impoverished countries.

If organizations such as International Planned Parenthood are truly concerned with providing healthcare to women in other countries, they can do so — with U.S. taxpayer dollars — as long as they agree not to perform or promote abortion.
Carol Tobias, President, National Right to Life previously shared this article in The Hill.

A Billion Reasons to Stop Abortion

Tony Perkins' Washington Update: When Donald Trump reinstated the ban on overseas abortion funding, it wasn't a moment too soon. In a sobering new report by the Global Life Campaign, analysts have tracked and calculated the number of worldwide abortions for the first time -- and the results are staggering. With more than 4,900 country years of data and a policy table for 196 nations, the authors -- after more than 30 years of work on the project -- have calculated that more than one billion abortions have been performed in the last century. That's a loss of life triple the size of the U.S. population. Imagine wiping out the country of China, and that may be the closest anyone can come to grasping the enormous casualties of the culture of death.

"We now have nearly a century of evidence documenting what happens when governments authorize abortion: it does not become rare, but increases exponentially. Indeed, in less than one century, abortion has become the Greatest Genocide ever, far surpassing all wars and democides combined," said authors at the Human Life Institute -- one of the four sponsors of the study (along with the Charlotte Lozier Institute, Global Life Campaign, and Regent University).

FRC was proud to host the launch of the report, where our own Arina Grossu, who was one of the expert reviewers of the study, spoke about abortion's tragic legacy. "This unprecedented report confirms the reality and also shows exactly what the abortion death toll looks like, country by country, throughout the years. The sheer number of lives, one billion babies, killed through abortion worldwide is heartbreaking. We are better than this. Abortion is not the answer. As a human family, we need to focus on policies that protect human life and promote human dignity."

Trump Advisor Kellyanne Conway Tells March for Life: President Donald Trump “Stands With You”

Kellyanne Conway
LifeNews.com: Kellyanne Conway, a top adviser to President Donald Trump, told hundreds of thousands of people at the March for Life that the president stands with them in their battle against abortion.

“Steps away from here in the White House, a president and a vice president sit at their desks and make decisions for the nation,” Conway told the crowd. “As they sit there, they stand here with you.”

“Their impassioned defense of life as presidential candidates showed a nation that courage and commitment can overcome indifference and insults,” Conway said. “Their decisive actions as president and vice president will further this cause.”

Conway pledged that the Trump administration will continue down the pro-life trail it started when President Trump signed an executive order to defund International Planned Parenthood.

“Allow me to make it very clear, we hear you, we see you, we respect you, and we look forward to working with you,” Conway said to cheers from the crowd.

“It is no coincidence that the first right cited in the Declaration of Independence is the right to Life. We are here to protect and promote the most precious gift in the world – the gift of life,” she said.

Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson Signs Bill to Ban Dismemberment Abortions

by Micaiah Bilger, LifeNews: Arkansas Gov. Asa Hutchinson signed into law on Thursday a bill to protect unborn babies from brutal dismemberment abortions.

Hutchinson signed the bill, the Arkansas Unborn Child Protection From Dismemberment Abortion Act, less than a day after the state Senate passed it with strong support, KTHV News 11 reports.

Arkansas House Bill 1032 prohibits dismemberment, or dilation and evaluation (D&E), abortions, a common second-trimester abortion procedure. Exceptions would be allowed in rare cases where there is a serious risk to the woman’s health, KFSM News 5 reports. Doctors who violate the measure could be held liable; however, women would not be punished, the report states.

A dismemberment abortion typically is performed on a nearly fully-formed, living unborn baby in the second trimester. It is a barbaric and dangerous procedure in which the unborn child is ripped apart in the womb and pulled out in pieces.

According to the Arkansas Department of Health, 683 of the 3,771 abortions performed in 2015 were D&E, or dismemberment abortions.

“Dismemberment abortion … [is a] gruesome, barbaric procedure. It is one that no civilized society should embrace,” said State Rep. Andy Mayberry, R-Hensley, earlier this week, according to Arkansas Online.

In a previous statement, Hutchinson said, “I have read the bill and it provides safeguards that are important, including an exception for circumstances that put the health of the mother in serious risk, and it assures that there is no penalty on the mother.”

He said he believes the law is constitutional and would be upheld by the U.S. Supreme Court, if challenged, Reuters reports.

Mayberry, the lead sponsor of the bill, said he hopes the bill will not be challenged, but if it is, he also is “confident” it will withstand judicial scrutiny.

The American Civil Liberties Union leaders quickly promised a lawsuit on Thursday to challenge the new law.

“The law puts an undue burden on a woman’s constitutional right to obtain a second-trimester abortion, and I think the legislature knows it and doesn’t care,” ACLU Arkansas attorney Rita Sklar said.

The dismemberment abortion ban embodies model legislation from the National Right to Life Committee that would prohibit “dismemberment abortion,” using forceps, clamps, scissors or similar instruments on a living unborn baby to remove him or her from the womb in pieces. Such instruments are used in dilation and evacuation procedures.

Dismemberment abortion bans also have been voted into law in Kansas, Oklahoma, West Virginia, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana. Mississippi and West Virginia have their laws in effect, while the other states are battling legal challenges.

The Arkansas law is scheduled to go into effect this summer.

VP Mike Pence Speaks At March for Life

Vice President Mike Pence
at 2017 March to Life

 (img screenshot)
ARRA News Service: Vice President Mike Pence addressed the attendees at the March for Life today. He said the pro-life movement will not rest until abortion ends in the United States. Below is a released text of his message.
Thank you Karen and Charlotte, and thank all of you on behalf of Pres. Donald Trump, my wife Karen, and my daughter Charlotte.

I’d like to welcome you all to Washington DC for the 44th annual March for life. It’s a good day. It’s the best day I’ve ever seen for the March for life, in more ways than one.

I’m deeply humbled to stand before you today. I’m deeply humbled to be the first vice president of the United States to ever have the privilege to attend this historic event.

More than 240 years ago, our founders wrote words that have echoed through the ages.

They declared these truths to be self-evident that we are, all of us, endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights, and that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

44 years ago, our Supreme Court turned away from the first of these timeless ideals.

But today, three generations hence, because of all of you, and the many thousands that stand with us in marches like this all across the nation, life is winning again in America.

That is evident in the election of pro-life majorities and the Congress of the United States of America. But it is no more evident, in any way, than in the historic election of a president who stands for a stronger America, a more prosperous America, and a president who, I proudly say, stands for the right to life – President Donald Trump.

President Trump actually asked me to be here with you today. He asked me to thank you for your support, for your stand for life, and for your compassion for the women and children of America.

One week ago today on the steps of the Capitol we saw the inauguration of the 45th President of the United States. I can tell you firsthand, our president is a man with broad shoulders and a big heart. His vision, his energy, his optimism are boundless and I know that he will make America great again.

From his first day in office he’s been keeping his promises to the American people.

I like to say that over there at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave., we are in the promise-keeping business.

That’s why on Monday, President Trump reinstated the Mexico City Policy to prevent foreign aid from funding organizations that promote or perform abortions worldwide.

That’s why this administration will work with the Congress to end taxpayer funding of abortion and of abortion providers, and we will devote those resources to healthcare services for women across America.

And that’s why next week, President Donald Trump will announce a Supreme Court nominee who will uphold the God-given liberties enshrined in our Constitution in the tradition of the late and great Justice Antonin Scalia.

You know, life is winning in America. And today is a celebration of that progress that we have made in this cause.

You know I’ve long believed that a society can be judged by how we care for its most vulnerable, the aged, the infirm, the disabled, and the unborn.

We have come to an historic moment in the cause for life. And we must meet this moment with respect and compassion for every American.

Life is winning in America for many reasons.

Life is winning through the steady advance of science that illuminates when life begins, more and more, every day.

Life is winning through the generosity of millions of adoptive families to open their hearts and homes to children in need. Life is winning through the compassion of caregivers and volunteers at crisis pregnancy centers and faith-based organizations who minister to women in towns across this country.

And life is winning through the quiet counsels between mothers and daughters, grandmothers and granddaughters, between friends across kitchen tables, and over coffee at college campuses. The truth is being told. Compassion is overcoming convenience. And hope is defeating despair.

In a word, life is winning in America because of all of you.

So I urge you to press on. But as it is written, ‘Let your gentleness be evident to all.’ Let this movement be known for love, not anger. Let this movement be known for compassion, not confrontation. When it comes to matters of the heart, there is nothing stronger than gentleness.

I believe that we will continue to win the hearts and minds of the rising generation if our hearts first break for young mothers and their unborn children, and if we each of us do all we can to meet them where they are, with generosity, not judgment.

To heal our land and restore a culture of life we must continue to be a movement that embraces all, cares for all, and shows respect for the dignity and worth of every person.

Enshrined on the walls of the Jefferson Memorial are the words of our third president, who admonished us, so long ago, to remember that God gave us life and gave us liberty.

On behalf of the President of the United States and my little family we thank you for your stand for life. We thank you for your compassion. We thank you for your love for the women and children of America.

And be assured, be assured, that along with you, we will not grow wearied, we will not rest until we restore a culture of life in America for ourselves and our posterity. Thank you and God bless you.

And God bless the United States of America.

VP Mike Pence Will Speak at March for Life . . .

. . . First VP Ever to Address Pro-Life Event

Vice President Mike Pence will speak at the March for Life on Friday — making him the first vice president ever to address the pro-life event in person.

That’s according to a report in the New York Times — though March for Life has yet to confirm Pence will indeed be on the roster of speakers.

Pence is the former governor of Indiana who has a longtime pro-life position and a lengthy pro-life record putting pro-life legislation into law in that state and voting pro life as a member of Congress.

“Let me be clear: People who know me well know I’m pro-life, and I don’t apologize for it,” he’s said previously. “I want to live to see the day that we put the sanctity of life back at the center of American law, and we send Roe v. Wade to the ash heap of history, where it belongs.”

White House officials confirmed today that Vice President Pence would address the pro-life Marchers. As many as half a million or more pro-life people will gather in the nation’s capital to express their opposition to abortion. . . .

Chilis Cancels Planned Parenthood Fundraiser After Pro-Life People Complain

Chili’s restaurants has cancelled a Planned Parenthood fundraiser that was being held at locations across two states after pro-life people complained.

In an exclusive report a LifeNews.com yesterday, Chili’s restaurants in two states were coming under fire from pro-life advocates for giving 15% of patron’s meal purchases to the Planned Parenthood abortion business.

Earlier this week the Planned Parenthood abortion business affiliate in Indiana and Kentucky posted a promotional code its supporters could use to request that Chili’s donate 15% of the pre-tax meal purchase to benefit the abortion corporation.

According to the image the abortion company posted, its supporters can bring the voucher to any of the identified Chili’s locations participating in the give back program. The voucher is good whether people purchasing food at Chili’s dine in the restaurant or order food to go. According to the voucher, Chili’s will donate to Planned Parenthood 15% of the meal purchase between now and the end of March.

Today, the corporate office of Chili’s restaurants reached out to LifeNews.com with information that the Planned Parenthood fundraiser has been cancelled. Chili’s told LifeNews that the decision to engage in the Planned Parenthood fundraiser was made by a local franchise partner not by the national corporate office. . . . Read More

March For Life Scares Death Industry

by Bill Donohue: This year’s March for Life will take place at a time of unprecedented optimism. President Donald Trump’s leadership has emboldened the Congress and state lawmakers to fight for the rights of the unborn with greater resolve than ever before. The death industry has taken note and is none too happy.

The death industry, led by Planned Parenthood and NARAL, was a major presence at last week’s Women’s March on Washington. Their idea of women’s rights is fixated on abortion and lesbians (as well as those unsure what sex they are). Thus, they have little in common with most women.

President Trump will appoint a Supreme Court justice next week, one who is sure to understand that the most pressing civil rights of our time is the right to life. He has already signed an executive order reinstating the “Mexico City Policy”; it bans federal funding to international groups that perform abortions.

Two days ago, the House passed a bill introduced by Rep. Chris Smith ensuring that the Hyde Amendment, which bans federal abortion funding, will be made permanent, thus vitiating the need for annual reapproval; the bill now goes to the Senate for a vote. On January 12, Rep. Steve King introduced a House bill that would ban an abortion after the baby’s heartbeat is detected.

In the states, lawmakers are geared up like never before. Last year, Louisiana passed seven new laws restricting abortion. Texas introduced 17 new civil rights laws protecting children in the womb, and 2017 will see at least some of them enacted.

Kentucky just passed two pro-life laws, one of which bans abortions after 20 weeks. Just this month, lawmakers in Florida, New Mexico and Tennessee introduced bills that would also ban abortions after 20 weeks; New Jersey filed a similar bill last month. Moreover, Missouri legislators refiled 14 pro-life bills this month. And Iowa is considering a bill to defund Planned Parenthood.

The death industry is scared. Pictures of babies in their mother’s womb are becoming clearer all the time, convincing more Americans that abortion is the intentional taking of innocent human life. The clock is ticking, and the time is getting late to continue the delusion that abortion does not kill.

VP Pence Encourages Pro-Life People to Attend the March for Life

Vice President Mike Pence is encouraging pro-life Advocates to join the March for Life on Friday (Jan. 27, 2017). He spoke with Marjorie Dannenfelser of the Susan B Anthony list this morning to urge pro-life Americans to participate. . . .

After their phone conversation, Dannenfelser had this to say. . . “This year’s March for Life is happening against a dramatically different backdrop than years past and is perhaps the most crucial moment since Roe. This morning I spoke to Vice President Mike Pence and he encouraged everyone in the pro-life movement to drop what they are doing, and show up to the national mall on Friday. He said ‘The March for Life is a great opportunity for pro-life Americans to come to our nation’s capital and celebrate the election of a pro-life President and pro-life majorities in Congress.’

“We feel certain, given the massive coverage of the Women’s March last week, and the fact that there is now a pro-life president in the White House, that the media will turn out in droves to cover the hundreds of thousands of pro-life marchers who will be arriving Friday. Our movement is poised to make historic gains for unborn children and women with this new pro-life President and Congress.” . . . Read More

PP Abortion Clinic CEO Retires, Says Killing Babies “Just No Fun Anymore

After 15 years of running one of the Planned Parenthood abortion businesses’ top affiliates, the CEO of Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky is retiring. Betty Cockrum recently said that running the abortion business is just no fun anymore.

According to news reports, Cockrum said she plans to retire in June after 15 years heading the abortion company. Planned Parenthood of Indiana and Kentucky operates 19 clinics that do abortions or refer women for abortions.

. . . Cathie Humbarger, Indiana Right to Life Vice President of Policy Enforcement, told LifeNews, “Cockrum has admitted her work is no fun anymore. She told the Indiana University student paper that she has to talk herself out of bed each mornin.”

“We can understand why she’s ready to leave her post. The only victories the abortion industry gets these days are in the courts. Life is winning in the court of public opinion. Abortions are down. Millennials are increasingly identifying as pro-life. Last year Planned Parenthood shut down five facilities in Indiana. Planned Parenthood is a tired model and women realize they can get better healthcare, and for a better price, elsewhere. We hope other abortion workers will see Cockrum’s departure as their cue to leave this dark industry,” HJumbarger added. . . . read More

Trump Spokesman: White House Staff Will Attend the March for Life

During the March for Life in previous years, pro-abortion President Barack Obama celebrated abortion and issued a presidential statement praising Roe vs. Wade.

What a difference a change in president makes.

Yesterday, a spokesman for President Donald Trump indicated White House staff will attend the March for Life, where over half-a-million pro-life people from around the country will mourn the almost 60 million unborn children who have been aborted since that fateful Supreme Court decision.

Trump spokesman Sean Spicer indicated top advisor Kellyanne Conway will attend the March as well other White House staff. Spicer told reporters at Tuesday’s briefing that there will be a “heavy administration presence” at the March for Life, which will be on Friday. . . . . . . Read More

U.S. Senate Confirms Pro-Life UN Ambassador Nominee Nikki Haley

ARRA News Service: Today at 5:31 PM (EST), the U.S. Senate by a vote of 96-4 confirmed Nikki Haley, Governor of South Carolina (R), to be the Ambassador of the United States of America to the United Nations in the Security Council and to the Sessions of the General Assembly.

The Senate Foreign Relations Committee had approved her nomination by voice vote earlier today.

Haley has declared her support for moving the U.S. Embassy in Israel from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

After the confirmation vote, Gov. Nikki Haley and Lt. Gov Henry McMaster appeared at the South Carolina State House. Gov. Haley resigned and South Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Don Beatty then swore in Henery McMasters as the new Governor of South Carolina.

Haley is due to be sworn in on Wednesday.

U.S. Cuts Off Funds To Abortion Providers Overseas

Carol Tobias, President, National Right to Life: Another pro-life victory!

In one of his very first memoranda, President Trump has reinstated a policy that denies U.S. financial support to organizations such as International Planned Parenthood that perform or advocate for abortion overseas.

President Reagan first determined that U.S. taxpayers would not have to contribute to groups that do abortions or lobby for abortion overseas.

That is simple common sense – the U.S. shouldn't be in the business of funding those who kill innocent unborn children.

But pro-abortion Presidents Clinton and Obama eliminated this pro-life policy, which had been enforced by Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush.

President Trump's reinstatement is a big, early pro-life victory at the federal level. And we've already seen significant victories in the states – Kentucky and Ohio in recent weeks passed our Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act.

In addition, the U.S. House just voted 238 to 183 today to pass the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion bill which would permanently block federal funding of abortion.

But pro-abortion groups and their allies in Congress and state legislatures will put up every conceivable roadblock to further pro-life gains. We're seeing it even today as they fight to block the confirmation of good pro-life cabinet nominees.

Future fights will be harder. We will need to organize massive outpourings of citizen phone calls, letters, emails, etc. to Congress and legislatures when key votes come up.

We need your help to win these fights and save many, many innocent lives!

Marching for Life, And For Our Future

by Star Parker: I wonder why when hundreds of thousands of women show up in Washington to demonstrate for what one Wall Street Journal columnist called "everything under the progressive sun," the press goes bonkers with coverage.

Yet, when similar numbers of pro-lifers reportedly show up for the March for Life, as they have been doing every January since the Roe v. Wade decision in January 1973, and as they will do again this week, they barely get a nod from the media.

Of course, anti-abortion activists are far less flamboyant. They don't bring in rock stars like Madonna to address the crowds in expletives. They don't carry signs with graphic pictures of women's sexual organs. They are not vulgar.

Despite deep differences between the pro-life movement and President Obama, there was no denigration or character assassination of our former president, even though he ignored the March for Life, while becoming the first sitting president to address the annual meeting of Planned Parenthood.

Here's the difference. Pro-life means respect for the sanctity of life, and respect for life means respect for everyone. Although we use the language of rights, it is really about responsibilities.

In contrast, the droves of marching, screaming women getting so much attention, are defined by one thing: me. So they can be vulgar, disgusting, outrageous and crass, because you and I don't matter. It's all about them and getting their hurt feelings out.

When it comes to abortion, there is no good news as long as the life of one child is pointlessly and cruelly extinguished.

But the abortion numbers are down. And this is good.

According to a new report from the Guttmacher Institute, abortions in the U.S. in 2014 totaled 926,200. The lowest since 1974.

The author of the study speculated that the drop might be explained by more sophisticated and widespread use of birth control measures and possibly by tighter abortion laws in many states.

Abortion is down, but births are not up. So perhaps some of this also can be associated with broader acceptance of sexual practices that in previous times were viewed as deviant.

The screaming ladies on the mall in Washington may be happy about the "me" culture and want more of it, but for anyone looking to a future for America, it does not bode well.

The basis for a society is human beings, and the "me" culture produces fewer new people. Bringing children into the world and raising them takes three things that don't work well with the "me" culture: work, sacrifice and love.

According to the latest report, which appeared several weeks ago from the Centers for Disease Control, the nation's Total Fertility Rate, which is the average number of children produced by an adult American woman during her lifetime, is now 1.84. It is estimated that a Total Fertility rate of 2.08 is necessary to maintain a population where it is. So America is shrinking. America's Total Fertility Rate in 1970, three years before Roe v. Wade legalized abortion, was 2.50.

This means also that America is aging. There will be fewer in the work force to pay taxes and keep our economy growing to support the retirement and health care requirements of an elderly population. There will be more Americans growing old alone, growing old without children and family to care for them, physically and emotionally.

Marching on Washington, screaming profanities to excite reporters looking for a story, may get a rise today.

But our country is slowly disappearing.

The Bible, something the "me" crowd enjoys denigrating, says that a man and woman should get married, that they should procreate and that they should "choose life."

The pro-life crowd is less flamboyant because it is steeped in a culture of respect, reverence for life and the wisdom of the ages. It may get less press. But without it, we have no future.

Praises For House Vote To End Taxpayer Funding of Abortion

Greater Fitchburg for Life: Today the U.S. House of Representatives passed the "No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act," (H.R. 7) sponsored by U.S. Rep. Chris Smith (R-N.J.). This bill would permanently prohibit taxpayer dollars from being used to pay for abortions in Obamacare health plans starting the next plan year. This bill also protects Americans of conscience by requiring the full disclosure of abortion coverage in Obamacare plans so people can make informed decisions about their healthcare plans right now.

Family Research Council (FRC) President Tony Perkins responded with the following comments:

"The 115th Congress has started on strong footing by passing this vital legislation ensuring that no American taxpayer dollars are used to pay for elective abortions. Following an election in which voters chose a pro-life president and a pro-life Congress, our nation is moving toward a new era where all human beings, born and unborn, are protected under the law. Abortion is not healthcare, and should not be funded since we know government funding of abortion increases it. Passage of this bill is a victory not just for taxpayers but women, and their unborn children.

"Today's vote reflects the reality that Americans are becoming more pro-life as science has increased our understanding of the humanity of unborn children. This bill restores the status quo against government funding or subsidizing abortion, a position supported by 61% of Americans.

"For over 40 years, the Hyde Amendment and other pro-life provisions have been renewed annually to prevent federal funds from being used to pay for abortions or healthcare plans which include abortion coverage. For over 40 years, Republicans and Democrats have come together to ensure that despite our differences, we should at least be able to agree that the government should not subsidize abortion. Obamacare violates this longstanding consensus.

"The Senate must take up this bill to ensure that government no longer spends people's hard earned money on insurance with elective abortion. We must pray and work to end abortion in America until every child is welcomed into the world and protected under our laws. Ending taxpayer funding of abortion is a good first step on this journey," concluded Perkins.

Alveda King on the “Women’s March:” “Who Represented Those Little Girls Being Aborted?”

Hundreds of thousands of women marched on Washington, D.C. over the weekend, supposedly to speak up for women’s rights.

However, the march organizers made it very clear that the event was opposed to the rights of females in the womb and those who speak up against abortion were unwelcome.

Alveda King, the niece of Martin Luther King Jr. and director of African American outreach for Priests for Life, said the Women’s March on Washington was a “missed opportunity” to stand for every woman’s rights.

In an interview Sunday with Fox & Friends, King explained how she aborted her unborn child and struggled for years with pain and regret. She said that by supporting abortion, the march organizers ignored how abortion has hurt and destroyed so many women’s lives, including her own unborn child’s.

“I don’t understand why, if this is a sisterhood, how they can leave out the little babies in the womb, the mothers who have been hurt by abortion. I think that’s part of the message,” King said.

“The little baby girls in the womb, what about them? Who is going to represent those little girls who are being aborted?” she continued. . . . Read more

Trump Defunds International Planned Parenthood, Foreign Abortions

by Peter LaBarbera: In his very first pro-life action, President Donald Trump signed an executive order today reinstating the “Mexico City Policy” banning government funding of foreign pro-abortion groups like the International Planned Parenthood Federation.

A cultural political football, the policy was first enacted by President Ronald Reagan in 1984 and was maintained by President George H.W. Bush until it was rescinded first by Democratic President Bill Clinton in 1993. Eight years later, President George W. Bush reinstated Mexico City and it was in effect until Barack Obama reversed it upon entering office in 2009.

The Mexico City Policy bans funding to organizations that perform abortions overseas or lobby for legalizing them in foreign nations.

Trump’s pro-life action comes a day after the 44th anniversary of the notorious Roe v. Wade Supreme Court ruling, which along with the Court’s Doe v. Bolton decision, established abortion-on-demand as the law of the land.

At the first official White House press conference today, Trump spokesman Sean Spicer said that reinstating the Mexico City Policy illustrates to the people of the United States "and to people of the world...what a value we place on life.” He said it is consistent with Trump, who campaigned as a "pro-life president."

Trump "wants to stand up for all Americans including the unborn,” and ensure taxpayer funding is ”reflecting American values,” including the respect for life, he added.

Expectations are high among pro-life activists that Trump's executive order will be the first of several pro-life actions taken by the White House in concert with Republicans who control Congress.

In 2009, when Obama rescinded the pro-life Mexico City policy, the National Right to Life Committee described it as follows: “Basically, the policy required grantees to refrain from performing abortions (except to save the life of the mother, or in cases of rape or incest), or lobbying to legalize abortion, or otherwise promoting abortion as a birth-control method. Critics disparaged the policy as a ‘global gag rule.'”
Pro-abortion feminists were complaining loudly over Trump’s expected reinstatement of the Mexico City abortion ban. IPPF retweeted a tweet saying the reinstatement of what it called the “global gag rule" would "put millions of women's lives at risk."

Trump signed the Mexico City Policy executive order along with two others, one pulling the United States out of the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) trade convention and the other enforcing a hiring freeze on all federal agencies except the U.S. military.

Cecile Richards, president of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America, criticized Trump's order on Twitter.BREAKING: As one of his first acts in office, President Trump has reinstated the #GlobalGag rule.

— Cecile Richards (@CecileRichards) January 23, 2017
But pro-life leaders praised the move as a "great start" to Trump's term in office.Re-instating the Mexico City policy - federal funding cannot promote abortion overseas --> great news. Abortion should not be a US export.

— Charmaine (@CharmaineYoest) January 23, 2017
Students for Life of America issued a statement saying, "This is a great start to the Trump presidency and we hope this is only the beginning of defunding Planned Parenthood and the end of forcing American taxpayers to fund an industry that ends hundreds of thousands of innocent lives a year and irreparably harms women. This is a new day for all Americans, and we are excited about reversing Planned Parenthood's hold on Washington."

The student group tweeted,Thank you @POTUS for reinstating the #MexicoCityPolicy! No more foreign aid for Int'l @PPact. This is only the beginning of #defundPP!

— Students for Life (@Students4LifeHQ) January 23, 2017
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins applauded President Trump for acting swiftly to restore the Mexico City Policy. “This is a vital step in the journey to make America great again, recognizing and affirming the universal ideal that all human beings have inherent worth and dignity, regardless of their age or nationality," he said.

“I thank President Trump for issuing an executive order in keeping with his campaign promise that he will protect taxpayers from having to pay for abortions," he added.

Perkins noted that a post-election survey found that "nearly 60 percent of Trump voters were impacted by the Republican Party’s strong pro-life, pro-religious liberty platform." He said Trump's executive order aligns with GOP platform language stating that funding or participating in abortion violates the principle that there should be a "wall of separation" between taxpayer money and abortion.

Human Life International President Fr. Shenan Boquet also praised the decision. He called it a "common sense policy" supported by most that will help "restor[e] the credibility of the United States as having a foreign policy that respects innocent life."

“That being said, there is much more to do. The Mexico City Policy should be made permanent, and audits of grant recipients from USAID and other federal agencies should be performed to ensure that it is truly enforced," Fr. Boquet continued. "The Trump administration has kept one important promise to those who put them in office, we pray that these pro-life decisions continue and that all federal support of abortion is ended without delay, taking us closer to the time when all abortions will be ended, all innocent life welcomed, and all mothers supported in their decision to welcome life into the world.”
Peter LaBarbera wites for LifeSite News.

One Fact of History Shows Why Roe v. Wade Is Unbelievably Ridiculous

by Paul Stark, National Right to Life News: In its 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that the Constitution requires states to permit abortion for any reason. The American people, the Court decided, are not allowed to legally protect human beings in utero from acts of violence that kill them (as long as the mother gives her permission).

Of course, the Constitution doesn’t say anything about abortion policy. So the Court attempted to extrapolate a constitutional right to abortion from the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which was adopted in 1868 to protect the rights of former slaves. The Clause says that no state shall “deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law.”

The Court’s claim that those words require abortion-on-demand is not very plausible. “As a constitutional argument,” notes University of Pennsylvania law professor Kermit Roosevelt (who personally supports legalized abortion), “Roe is barely coherent. The Court pulled its fundamental right to choose more or less from the constitutional ether.”

One fact of history, however, makes the Court’s decision especially egregious: The American people adopted the Fourteenth Amendment during an era in which those same American people enacted a wave of state laws to protect unborn children from abortion.

Justice Harry Blackmun, who wrote the majority opinion in Roe, seemed to realize that this fact posed an obstacle to the conclusion the Court wanted to reach. So Blackmun, citing two since-debunked articles written by Cyril Means (a lawyer for the National Association for the Repeal of Abortion Laws), put forward Means’s novel theory that the 19th century abortion laws weren’t really about protecting the unborn. They were, instead, about protecting women from a dangerous procedure—a concern that is no longer relevant, Blackmun reasoned, given the relative safety of modern abortion techniques.

Even if Blackmun and Means were right about the purpose of the abortion laws, though, it wouldn’t follow that measures to protect the unborn are impermissible or that they do not advance a compelling state interest. But Blackmun and Means demonstrably were not right.

Definitive and overwhelming historical evidence [shows that 19th century state legislatures were motivated (in large part) to prevent killing that they regarded as unjust. They had learned from scientific advancements that abortion at any stage, even before quickening, took the life of a developing member of the species Homo sapiens, and newer abortion methods were turning the practice into a larger problem in American society. So the American Medical Association and others campaigned to replace insufficient common-law protections (or earlier statutory protections) with laws that protected all unborn children from abortion.

“Physicians have now arrived at the unanimous opinion that the foetus in utero is alive from the very moment of conception,” wrote Dr. Horatio Storer, who spearheaded the AMA’s effort, in 1866. “[T]he willful killing of a human being at any stage of its existence is murder.”

States responded by enacting laws prohibiting all elective abortions. Consider, in particular, legislation to strengthen Ohio’s abortion ban that was enacted in April 1867. That’s just a few months after the same lawmakers, during the same legislative session, voted to ratify the Fourteenth Amendment. A report prepared by the Ohio Senate Committee on Criminal Abortion called abortion “child-murder” and grounded its position in the scientific fact that unborn children are human beings and the moral principle that intentionally killing people is wrong.

Why does all this matter? Because the Americans who decided to ban abortions are the same Americans who, during the same time period, decided to adopt the Fourteenth Amendment. Then, a century later, the Court ruled that the Fourteenth Amendment somehow precludes doing what the ratifiers of the Fourteenth Amendment actually did.

Justice William Rehnquist made this point in his dissenting opinion in Roe. “To reach its result,” he wrote, “the Court necessarily has had to find within the scope of the Fourteenth Amendment a right that was apparently completely unknown to the drafters of the Amendment.”

Rehnquist continued: “There apparently was no question concerning the validity of [laws against abortion] when the Fourteenth Amendment was adopted. The only conclusion possible from this history is that the drafters did not intend to have the Fourteenth Amendment withdraw from the States the power to legislate with respect to this matter.”

Indeed, in order to hold that the Fourteenth Amendment prevents Americans from protecting unborn children, as the Court ruled in Roe, one has to hold that (magically?) the Fourteenth Amendment means something other than what the American people actually agreed to when they ratified the Amendment.

That is ridiculous. The Court’s claim that there is a constitutional right to abortion isn’t just wrong. It is obviously wrong. It is nonsense.

Regardless of one’s position on the ethics of abortion—and regardless of one’s position on whether abortion should be legal—Roe v. Wade is not a decision that can be defended seriously.

President Trump Takes Office: Six key Promises On Abortion, Marriage, and Lliberty

by Pete Baklinski President Donald Trump in his inaugural address spoke of the “new vision [that] will govern our land,” promising that the “time for empty talk is over” and that “now arrives the hour of action.”

While he did not specifically mention moral issues like abortion and same-sex "marriage" in his address, the "new vision" he laid out in the campaign included key promises on those issues.

Here is a list of the top life-and-family promises Trump made while on the campaign trail.
1. Trump promises to appoint pro-life judges
When pro-life and pro-family Justice Antonin Scalia died last February, opening a vacancy in the Supreme Court, Trump promised on numerous occasions that if he were elected he would appoint pro-life justices to the bench.

When Trump was asked in the final presidential debate if he wanted the court to overturn the 1973 abortion decision Roe v. Wade, he said that it would happen “automatically” because of his appointments.

“Well, if we put another two or perhaps three justice on, that's really what's going to be, that will happen. And that'll happen automatically, in my opinion, because I am putting pro-life justices on the court,” he said.

Trump confirmed in an Oct. 27, 2016 interview with EWTN that he was going to appoint judges who are pro-life:

EWTN: “You weren’t always pro-life, but you now are determinedly and decidedly pro-life.”

TRUMP: “Yes, I am pro-life.”

EWTN: “You said you are going to appoint judges who are pro-life.”

TRUMP: “Right.”

2. Trump promises to defund Planned Parenthood

After a 2015 video investigation uncovered evidence of Planned Parenthood's involvement in the illegal sale of aborted baby body parts, Trump promised on various occasions that if elected, he would defund the abortion giant.

When asked during a Sept. 14, 2015 'O’Reilly Factor’ interview if he would vote to defund Planned Parenthood, Trump said yes.

Asked O’Reilly: “A lot of conservatives want to defund Planned Parenthood, period. No more government money, in the face of this horrendous exposition. Here it is tonight, you’ve got to answer this yes or no. Would you vote to defund Planned Parenthood, yes or no?”

Replied Trump: “Yes, I’ve seen it, and I think you know my stance on it. I’ve said it before, but…I’ve seen the videos. I think it’s a disgrace, and the answer is I would vote to defund.”

When asked again in an Oct. 18, 2015 Fox News Sunday interview if he would be willing to defund Planned Parenthood, he also replied in the affirmative because of what he called the “terrible” things going on there.

“Planned Parenthood should absolutely be defunded. I mean if you look at what's going on with that, it's terrible,” he said.

3. Trump promises Christians can 'trust' him to defend 'traditional marriage’

Christians were dismayed in 2015 when the Supreme Court ruled in its 2015 Obergefell decision that two people of the same sex could ‘marry’ one another. While Trump has wavered in his position on the ruling, at one point calling it “settled law,” he has also promised Christians that they can “trust him” to defend traditional marriage.

During a Jan. 31 Fox News Sunday interview Trump stated that if he were to become president he would “strongly consider” appointing justices to overrule the decision on same-sex "marriage."

When asked during a Feb. 2, 2016 CBN interview his reaction to being called the “most pro-gay republican presidential candidate that we have out there,” Trump replied, “I think [Christians] can trust me."

He added: "They can trust me on traditional marriage. I was very much in favor of having the court rule that it goes to states and let the states decide. And that [Supreme Court ruling] was a shocking decision for you and for me and for a lot of other people."

4. Trump promises religious liberty

People of faith across America have been outraged by the numerous instances of Christian bakers, wedding photographers, florists, professors, counselors, health-care workers, media personalities, professional sports players, bed-and-breakfast owners, mayors, printers, politicians, foster parents, fire chiefs, magistrates and police fined and/or losing their jobs for refusing to compromise their beliefs when challenged by adherents to homosexual ideology.

During his Sept. 9, 2016 speech at the Value Voters Summit, Trump promised to “protect and defend” religious liberty.

“So let me say this right up front: [In] a Trump administration, our Christian heritage will be cherished, protected, defended, like you’ve never seen before. Believe me. I believe it. And you believe it. And you know it. You know it. And that includes religious liberty – remember, remember,” he said.

5. Trump promises to repeal Johnson amendment

Donald Trump promised that if elected president, he would repeal the 1954 Johnson amendment. That law bans charities and churches that have tax-exempt status from engaging in “political campaign activity.” Pro-life and pro-family leaders say the law stops them from communicating their message and fully serving as leaders in the pulpit.

Stated Trump during his Sept. 9, 2016 speech at the Value Voters Summit: “The first thing we have to do is give our churches their voice back. It’s been taken away. The Johnson amendment has blocked our pastors and ministers and others from speaking their minds from their own pulpits. If they want to talk about Christianity, if they want to preach, if they want to talk about politics, they’re unable to do so. If they want to do it, they take a tremendous risk that they lose their tax-exempt status.”

“All religious leaders should be able to freely express their thoughts and feelings on religious matters. And I will repeal the Johnson amendment if I am elected your president, I promise. So important,” he added.

6. Trump promises to repeal Obamacare

Life and family leaders have vigorously protested Obama’s health reform law for forcing employers, including Catholic colleges and hospitals, to pay for contraception, including abortifacient “emergency” contraception, and sterilizations. Even Catholic communities of nuns, such as the Little Sisters of the Poor, were forced, contrary to their religious beliefs, to provide contraception and abortifacients to their staff.

Trump called Obamacare “disastrous” and promised to repeal it.

“We’re also going to repeal and replace disastrous Obamacare which gives the government control over the lives of everyday citizens…It is a disaster. It’s a disaster, and everybody knows it. And it’s going to die of its own weight anyway, but we’re going to get rid of it and we’re going to replace it with some great, great alternatives – much better health care at a much lower price,” he said.

‘We’re going to have real progress’

Priests for Life National Director Father Frank Pavone stated in a recent interview with LifeSiteNews that the pro-life cause will "make significant progress" under a Donald Trump presidency.

Pavone said that members of the pro-life movement should look at the Trump administration with a "we," not an "us-them," mentality.

"It’s not just about promises that [he and his team] made. It’s about a common commitment that we have along with them," he explained. "We each have responsibilities: the elected and those they serve, to carry out our common commitment to defend life, freedom, family, and America. So we need to be working alongside" each other.”

Pavone urged people fighting to defend life and family to continue to pray and act.

"The battle does continue," he said. "We have to make sure that everyone who was mobilized to pray during the election continues with those prayers....and everyone who was mobilized to act continues to act."

“We’re going to have real progress," Pavone predicted. "This was a real victory and it’s going to lead to real results."
Pete Baklinski writes for LifeSite News.
